If a true edge player was still available, it would have been a better choice. But, A.J. shows signs he could be that kind of player. There's mixed signals on him. The problem is, Clowney may be gone through FA, and Bruce Irvin is 32, and on a one-year contract. They need to upgrade now, to do more on defense.
