If there is one position that the Wisconsin Badgers have struggled to land high-level recruits at it has been wide receiver.

However, it appears that might be changing just before national signing day. 247Sports’ Director of Recruiting has put in a surprise Crystal Ball pick for 4-star wide receiver Danny Davis.

Made a @247CrystalBall forecast in favor of #Wisconsin for four-star WR Danny Davis: https://t.co/o6KxdDPphR @EvanFlood #Badgers

Wisconsin has slow-played this recruitment, but has been in the game for some time. That plan worked well as Davis visited the UW campus the weekend of Jan 20. Wisconsin also put in some big legwork just before the visit with both head coach Paul Chryst and offensive coordinator Joe Rudolph paying him an in-home visit.

The Springfield (OH) product has been a Kentucky lean for some time, but the visit apparently went so well that Davis could be faxing in a commitment to the Badgers on Wednesday morning.

Wiltfong had previously had Davis heading to Kentucky, but flipped his Crystal Ball prediction on Monday night.

If this prediction ends up being right, Wisconsin may have a major coup on its hands. Davis is the No. 219 player in the country, the No. 31 wide receiver and the No. 8 player in the state of Ohio.

Getting a player like this out of the state of Ohio would be huge for the Badgers, as recruiting the state hasn’t been a big priority or highly successful endeavor as of late.

It would be a coup. Getting stronger in states like Ohio can significantly change how well the Badgers do in football hot bed states.
