One player is planning to stand up at linebacker next season, while two others hit free agency in a few weeks.
The Green Bay Packers could enter 2016 with a very different-looking defensive line than the one that they fielded throughout much of the 2015 season. Thankfully, Mike Daniels is back, as the leader of the unit signed a four-year contract extension late in the season to keep him around through 2019.
However, three players are candidates to move on from the line next season, although not all of them will be leaving the roster entirely. A position change appears to be in the cards for the Packers' top pick in 2013, while a pair of players who returned on one-year deals in 2015 will be hitting the open market.

It seems that the former first-round pick is preparing to make a similar transition to the one Mike Neal made three seasons ago, when he took his hand off the ground and started playing linebacker full-time. That may also be critical for the depth at the position next year, depending on Neal's and Nick Perry's decisions in free agency this offseason.

Speaking of free agency, the big nose tackle has returned on one-year deals each of the past two years, and he'll have another offseason of weighing offers this March. Letroy Guion will join him in this experience, as he has also played the past two seasons on single-year contracts.

We discussed this earlier this week, but there were no glaring issues in blocking, and only a couple of breakdowns in coverage. One issue that coordinator Ron Zook mentioned is Tim Masthay, who is reportedly thinking too much instead of just kicking the ball well.

The reason it's better, though, is because of the team's performance in 2015. The Senior Bowl coaching staffs are pulled from teams failing to qualify for the playoffs, but those coaches do get valuable reps and time with the players present at that game. This year's coaching staffs for that game come from Jacksonville and Dallas.
