Bye Week Blues

yeah, i distinctly recall ml saying that he needs to get kraft more involved in the game plan and that he deserves more opportunities. that was after the loss to cleveland i believe. i didn't really notice any improvement in that regard against the cowturds. hopefully, after the bye we will see some of that. or maybe he was talking about next year?
because he had to stay in and block.... guess why that was? Give you one guess FP( rant)

CB reared it's ugly head in Dallas and unless they play out of their minds at CB like they did the first 3 weeks, we will see the defense giving up more points consistently, IMO.

I also think we are weak on the interior of the d-line. Wyatt helps but no one else is anything to write home about.

Everyone has discussed the o-line. Not sure there is a fix at this point. It is what it is.

I am sick of crabbing about STs every year. Nothing changes.

I post rarely but let me say that Special Teams are truly a reflection of our personal after the top 27 on the roster. It's been an issue since TT was GM and hasn't changed with gute.
Agree, the personal and front office is the only thing that stayed the same the whole time. RB was considered the best in the business when they hired him and everyone swooned over the hire.
If he can't make it right then you have to look at the other factors involved.

GB ST stink not because there is this wealth of depth around the league that GB is uniquely incapable of accessing, but because as an organization they use ST for development purposes and to get reps for players rather than treating it as an equal unit where the best performers play. Bisaccia getting fired isn't going to change that, I think even if they brought in a ST oriented HC like John Harbaugh, he would need to sell that change to Ed Policy and the folks up in the board room. It's just very, very different than the way things have been done in GB under TT and BG.

I’ll DHH(here too… :)

ST has not been a priority for a long long time. Surprising since it’s been their downfall in many situations. IMHO I agree it was a TT thing. And for me it all went down hill like 20 years ago. TT got rid of Tracy White who was a reserve but an absolute beast in ST. Then there was what’s his name, Abredaris or something? Not an NFL quality receiver but another beast on ST. Packers don’t value those players.

Like FL Pack said (good to see you btw!) the Packers view ST as a place to stash developmental players, not as a legit unit in their own right.

OL is what it is, every single year we get to this point and are like “oh well it is what it is”…

GBs scouting department stinks. They don’t seem to look for guys that will fit and contribute they look at guys in a vacuum. Especially on OL. They look for Jack of all trades master of none type OL and none of them are particularly good at their position.

Anywho. This is who GB is. They may get lucky one year and go on a run. But they aren’t built to push for a SB every year. So I guess just enjoy we aren’t Browns fans…

So maybe we don't have the best personnel.

Maybe that means we shouldn't be using that we're inventive super smart Menacing Arm Special Teams Blocking Technique that no other football team in the world uses.

We have problems at the top. And, those problems trickle down.

Our players don't do the basics well and don't do the basics instinctively. They also don't seem to know the game plan well enough so that they operate as a well oiled integrated machine when times are tough.

I am becoming less impressed with the front office talent evaluation and honestly the coaches.

On top of the problems listed here, there is always the possibility with a guy Rich's age (65) that some form of dementia may play a part...
Im not here to make excuses for him or say he's a victim, he's not. But his bosses have basically said to him, when your guys go out to kick FGs, you don't have access to a couple of the best blockers on the team. They're here, but you can't use these guys, you have to use a couple of the worst blockers on our roster instead. Here's a tackle from the PS, and a TE who is so bad at blocking we can barely play him. But here you go, make it work. Likewise, we can't give you access to a core, 4 unit ST player sitting on our practice squad, because league rules and general depth decisions make it unpalatable for us to have 6 ILBs elevated on game day, so you only get one of our best ST LBs instead of two. What should we expect? For one thing, I expect that when anyone makes a mistake on ST, the coach will correct it before it turns into a catastrophe. But what else is he supposed to do?
