I have mixed emotions on this one. The problem is, will it open the door to mass movement of players who don't get their way at their present school? This needs to be thought through pretty thoroughly.

The key will be if they still hold the 25 limit for each signing class If they do, as of now includes transfers. If they open it up that’s the unknown, could be NCAA Free Agency. Thing is even with the portal guys get waivers so maybe it’s a non issue. Key is class limits
 
No matter what they decide, the players are getting rights they never had. I've always felt that getting a scholarship to a college for sports is like signing a contract to work there for four years. It's like any contract. You sign it, you honor it.

What is the value of a college degree, if you go there to study? At least $300,000 in this day and age. That's $75k a year to do your job. Not that bad for a kid out of HS, and the chance to further yourself through sports or your chosen path in education.

Like I said. I have mixed emotions. I understand the kids and their families, and I do think about the situation with the schools. I get tired of watching programs like Kentucky in basketball.

Contracts / scholarships are 1 year and renewable. I’ve seen schools pull them just as easy as kids transfer. Some for “not a fit” for the system or program yet then take the open spot and offer it.

To me the big thing is do you commit to the school or coach. What we forget is these are 17-18 year old kids who have the attention span of an ant in some cases. They visit a school , have the red carpet rolled out and then enroll and reality hits. Now your 500 miles from home and miserable.

I see your point. But it’s a business, on both ends
