Morrison

One AFC general manager shared his scouting report on Morrison with NFL.com this way: "Write him up however you want, but he's a two-down MIKE linebacker who is tough as hell and a good football player. I worry much less about his 'negatives' than I do what he can do."

Packers on Morrison

From reading, it seems like he was still in recovery mode following rehab of a knee injury when he ran his 40 time.
Hopefully he plays faster than he times.
Either way, they can use a tough guy in the middle on running downs.

He runs a 5.1 40 and has feet made out of cement, he gets burned in pass coverage etc. Nice depth but beyond that he's nothing special.

Morrison was a guy who was not going to make the Colts final 53. New defensive scheme with Indy and he did not fit. So this was trade of one teams trash for another teams trash both guys were going to be hitting waiver wire Saturday.

seems to me both teams came out ahead by not just cutting the players after the next game. the colts have an undrafted free agent and a journeyman as their starting cbs, and are in desperate need of depth. the packers are in desperate need of and experienced player at the inside linebacker position after losing ryan for the season. neither guy is a high-profile player, but both offer their new teams something they need. i certainly hope that people are not thinking we should have been able to trade lenzy pipkins for a star player.

Pipkins for Mack straight up :)

It's a fine trade for depth. In that sense I like it a lot. Both teams were likely to cut these guys so they each get some depth. Morrison may actually be fine against certain teams that like to run the ball and don't run a high tempo offense. Even then his snaps may be limited but better than throwing a "big safety" out there to stop the run.

I know what his testing numbers were, but this guy doesn't strike me as being appreciably different than Jake Ryan. Every criticism I've read of this guy, I'd attribute to Ryan as well, except that Morrison seems to have more of a nasty streak (read: undisciplined - how will that play with new rules, I wonder?) Still, Gute was able to add a young ILB with starting experience - which we didn't have - for the cost of one of our bubble players. We'll see what he can do now.

Yea while i dont think hes the next hall of famer its a solid move to add something inside since the injury bug hit again. That slow 40 he ran, he was fighting off a staph infection and had a catheter in his chest that same week. Ha i dont see 4.5 speed but i see a hard nosed 2 down thumper aka jake ryan with some nasty. Adds a little depth.

On another note he was taken at 128. The 4th round pick he used to move up and grab the stud jason spriggs.
