2026 NFL Season Thread

Compared to what the NFL brings in in profit that’s nothing.
Most of them have full-time jobs as well, on average of 238,000( lots of desk jockeys)...so add in that extra 200 k.... that's a guy making 438,000 per year...yeah, he needs more like I need to eat more double cheeseburgers and cheesecake every day.

Then the NFL should move to full time officials.
Would likely have most current officials quit then as they will not pick the side job as a ref over there regular career. NFL I think is trying to balance keeping the refs they do have but finding a way to improve the results on the field.

I think to do fulltime refs you would have to start hiring new hires as fulltime to replace the parttime ones that retire. That way you don't lose all the experience at once and can slowly build up to having fulltime refs that are experienced.

If that’s how they have to do it. But when the argument for thier pay is they are part time AND They suck. Then full time with pay/benefits and better training is a great solution.

See refs union put out statement saying they deserve better pay and benefits. They want to be paid on par with NBA and MLB. Well thing is those refs are out there 18 games max while NBA is out there 82 games and 162 games. Have difference in pay for a reason also. If they want benefits then it is time they give up part time roles and take on full time jobs with NFL which means they quit there regular jobs.
