2025 NFL Season Thread

Even if he never plays beyond this year will make $16 million in 5 years in NFL half goes to taxes still leaves him with $8 million unless he's very stupid with money he's still set for life.
There are endless stories of people getting rich and losing it all being stupid…

Again I don’t see him every day so I don’t know, but late night pot smoking and binge junk food eating don’t usually go hand in hand with peak performance. $8m in the bank is nice, but he had a chance at double that or more per season for multiple years. Can he look back and say he did everything he could to get the most out of his career? That’s always the shame of it.

#49ers are trading Jordan Mason to the #Vikings. He gets a 2-year deal with over $7M fully guaranteed at signing with a maximum value of $12M.

mason played three years for the 49ers as an undrafted free agent. he had a pretty good year in 2024. played in 12 games, starting 6. carried the ball 153 times for 789 yards (5.2 yds/att) and 37 first downs. he also has 11 receptions for 91 yards (8.3 yds/rec) and 5 first downs. vikings wanted him to backup jones. all they gave up was a 2026 sixth round pick.

NFL history: The Bengals have agreed to record deals making Ja’Marr Chase the highest-paid non-QB and Tee Higgins the highest-paid WR2 in the league, per sources. The deals were in place all weekend and Higgins announced the agreement.

Ja’Marr Chase agreed to a 4-year, $161 million extension.

Tee Higgins agreed to a 4-year deal worth about $115 million deal.
Their new contracts will make them the NFL’s highest-paid WR duo.

I don’t know man. It’s a tough choice for the front office, right? Burrow and these two are your best players on offense so you want to keep them together and pay them. On the other hand, they each had maybe the best season of their careers last year and still weren’t even a playoff team. I assume they go all defense in the draft now but really feel like they’re hanging on too tightly to this core that hasn’t actually won anything.

Next 2-3 seasons they pretty much tell all there FA's yeah don't even bother to talk to us for a contract we can't afford to extend or resign anyone now. That's why I don't think they will keep Hendrickson. He's looking for his last big payday at 31 years old. Not sure Cincy can afford another 100+ million contract so if they don't trade him he probably walks as a FA next off-season. That's why it makes no sense for Cincy be so greedy wanting a 1st and more for him. Take a 2nd which they probably can get now and move on.
