2025 NFL Season Thread

packers needed a cornerback badly, and passed on this guy to draft an ol that did nothing for the team.

This time last year, or earlier, I assumed DeJean to GB was going to be the pick. Obviously he worked out with Philly, but that said, GB didn't lose this year because of their nickel corner play, they lost because their OL imploded against good teams. I disliked the Morgan pick and went record with that, but I can't be too harsh on them for drafting OL when they obviously need OL. It sucks he got hurt, no one wanted that.

I was just okay with DeJean, but let's not make him such a slam dunk choice. There were plenty of questions about him. Was he a S or CB. He was coming off surgery that kept him out of the combine (and the first 4 games) and drafting another injured guy in Rd1 gave me pause and ruled him out for some people. It turned out to be not such a good choice for the Packers in year one but not such an obvious mistake as passing on TJ Watt, IMO.

Hindsight is always 20/20.
in 2023 Philly drafted Jalen Carter; he was a top 5 pick, but because of character issues (related to a car crash/death) he dropped. Then this year they were the team that decided to take a chance on DeJean.

i think this is the mark of a good gm. he knows when to take chances and they usually work out. unlike gute, who often takes chances on the wrong guys. especially in the first round.

Howie drafted Andre Dillard in the first round and picked Jalen Raegor instead of Justin Jefferson. He’s made plenty of mistakes.

maybe . . . if Carter stays out of trouble, he was a steal where they drafted him. but you're also seen as a team that maybe doesn't value character as much as other teams, and are willing to "look the other way".

Jets announce Rodgers will be released and not brought back for 2025. Jets expected to designate him a post June 1st cut. It will make his 2025 cap figure be $14 million while he will be on the books in 2026 for $35 million.
