I think over time the NFL has forced the half time show into growing into something that is a show unto itself, with all the complex stages and choreographed dancers around the actual music. But I think most realize that it's just a money play, so they can get a larger audience to watch the game which means more ad revenues into everyone's pockets. It may have started off as a means to entertain the audience during the longer halftime, but it's grown into a revenue generator.

Fields can run and he can throw the ball a mile. Unfortunately he can't play QB, which is neither a running nor ball throwing competition.
