2025 Draft Prospects Thread

Would love Will Johnson but don't think he falls to 23. Nor does Barron fall to 23 I think. Now would you take a Revel or Amos at 23? Maybe but I also might look at DT there I think could have 2 or 3 good DT's to pick from at 23.

agree. there is no chance johnson falls to 23, and no chance gute would trade up in the first round.

Technically Gute has traded up in the first round in 57% of his drafts.
He wants more picks this year only 7 picks heading into the draft. Got to figure he wants 9-10 picks so he will pull a couple trade backs.

But point brought up today. MN sits right behind GB in 1st round. Then only have I believe there 1st, 3rd, 2 5ths, and a 7th. MN will be shopping that 1st round pick hard and probably take a deal in another teams favor just to get some more draft picks. Which would make it harder for GB to shop there own 1st round pick if they would want to move down.

what gbp said. i'm saying there is no chance he's going to trade away picks to move up when he has fewer picks than what he usually has. it's a moot point anyway because johnson is a top 10-15 pick, and we would have to give away a lot of picks to move up that high. our only shot is if he does actually fall like rodgers did.

Shemar Stewart will be so interesting to see what happens to him on draft night. Incredible size, speed, explosion, athletic traits. Absolutely zero college production. Poor pass rush productivity, poor run stop productivity. He was seen as a late first round kind of guy, then had a great combine and shot up, now seems to be slipping again. I think Gute would sprint the card up for him, but I don't know if that would be good or not.

it is a conundrum, that is for sure. he has all the athletic traits that you want to see in an edge, but you're right - his production barely moved the needle.

Gute needs to stop drafting edge. His best drafted edge has been Gary who has been overpaid and underproduced. Gute overall on defense has drafted horrible. His best draft pick on defense was Alexander who played a great first 3 years then got paid and injuries and effort became an issue. Outside of that there has been no blue chippers drafted on this defense. Really overall there are no blue chippers drafted by him. There are guys who could very well become blue chippers but as of yet I would not call anyone drafted by him one.

If good edge players aren’t available in FA and you don’t want him to draft them…. then what?

You have to keep drafting players there. The data is pretty clear on this, the best DL players are drafted basically in the top 50 or so picks. I would like Gute to move off of some of his metrics for DL players but he needs to draft more of them.
