2025 Draft Prospects Thread

Maybe the Packers should look outside football, at guys who kick soccer balls farther than a person can hit a golf ball? There are so many out there who are accurate, that it makes you wonder how many could be a potential kicker, and signing them to the practice squad is a good idea. In fact, we have a kicker on our practice squad now who fills that very role. A soccer type, who they're working with, to see if he can make the grade. Also, he counts as the International player, so we get that extra PS spot. If nothing else, I'd be heading around the world to soccer hot spots and holding auditions. You never know what will turn up.

I remember when Garo Ypremian showed up on the scene with that strange side-winder kick, and everyone laughed. He wasn't overly accurate, made about 2/3 of his kicks over the years with FGs, but the thing was, it was the beginning of what it is today. The next stop up is to convert players to footballs.

i've seen this guy mentioned as a first round pick by the packers in a couple of mock draffts:

HEIGHT: 6'3"
WEIGHT: 327

POSITIVES
— Good movement skills for his size, giving him a higher ceiling as a prospect.
— Impressive upper-body strength to stand up offensive linemen at the line of scrimmage, get extension and gain control of the block.
— Has little to no issues shedding or getting off blocks when he lands his hands.
— Solid at collapsing the pocket with a bull rush with his leg drive and strength.
— Has flashed a few pass-rush moves that he can win with, such as rip, swim, hand-swipe, and stick moves.
— Gets his hands up and can bat passes at the line of scrimmage when he doesn't win as a rusher.

NEGATIVES
— Inconsistent overall. Shows flashes of brilliance and then gets beat too much for someone of his caliber.
— Has a habit of false stepping or hopping out of his stance, contributing to poor pad level, which makes it more difficult for him to take on double-teams and impacts the consistency of his bull rush.

— Bad block recognition and doesn't put himself in a good position to take on blocks, especially against down-blocks and double-teams/combos where he gets caught off-guard and kicked out of his gap.
— Still learning how to use and be more consistent with his use of hands as a pass-rusher and run defender. He's often late and has wide placement with his hands.
— Appears to have shorter arms, limiting his extension when taking on blocks, which could be a bigger issue in the NFL.

OVERALL
Potential is the best way to describe Tyleik Williams as an NFL draft prospect. His combination of size, strength and athleticism gives him a high ceiling, but inconsistency is his biggest issue. He'll have eye-popping reps on film and then get beat on similar reps later in the same game. With that being said, his traits are pretty impressive.

Williams shows plenty of strength at the point of attack to win at the line of scrimmage. That helps him get off blocks against the run and collapse the pocket when bull-rushing. However, his measurables during the predraft process will be important. He appears to have shorter arms, which could limit how much extension he can get in the NFL.
Also, Williams' pad level and block recognition are issues against the run. He has a habit of standing up out of his stance and is often late to recognize down blocks and double teams, leading to getting washed out of his gap.
Beyond having a solid bull rush, the former Buckeye has shown the ability to win with a few finesse moves as a pass-rusher. But again, it's a matter of consistency, as he's still learning how to use his hands and will often go long stretches without winning.
Those wins around the edges of offensive linemen were more flashes than something that's a staple of his pass-rush arsenal. Also, his high pad level will reduce the effectiveness of his bull rush against better competition.
Schematically, Williams would be best as a 3-technique in even fronts.

Seems every mock draft you see has the Packers taking a DL. Personally I think CB, Edge, OL are above needing a IDL.

thing is, we will be drafting near the end of round 1, and you're probably not getting a very good player at any of those positions. you'd have to reach to take one of them. you may not get a great player at idl either it just depends how many other teams ahead of you are looking for an idl.

here's how pff had the packers in the latest 3-round mock:

It does seem a bad year for CB and that a couple of the top CB's have slide to the bottom of the 1st round due to being hurt and missing most or all of the season. Question is would GB be the team to take the risk on one of those players?

My first 3 look players early for GB:

Trey Amos*, CB, Ole Miss 6'1 190 4.45 guy who started out at Bama, battle-tested. If still on the board GB has to bite.

Deonte Lawson, ILB, Alabama, 6'2 239 better plugger but still athletic in 2024 at Bama so far He has 73 tackles with two sacks, one forced fumble, an interception, and three passes defended. 4.5 40

Kyren Lacy, WR, LSU, 6'2 213 very productive this year, Lacy has 55 catches for 825 yards and eight touchdowns. Big WR with soft hands.

Extra #4 prospect
Landon Jackson, DE, Arkansas 6'7 280 freak of a DE who can actually anchor an edge and is strong at the point of attack. In 2024, Jackson has 35 tackles, 4.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and two passes broken up thus far, he's a mean SOB.

Should Gute waste a pick drafting OL since he's never had one just be more then average at best.
Gute should be duct taped and tied up in a closet on draft day. Let me draft several tons worth of unpleasantness

I wonder about Jon Eric Sullivan and Matt Malaspina. Both have a huge say in college scouting, both said to be “rising stars” but no one else actually seems to want them.
