2025 Badger Football Thread

That’s a great point, for less than $7m each they can fix this now.

I picked Russ because he believed(s?) that mineral water with bubbles prevents concussions, I figured he’d be the easiest mark.
Yeah, the bubbles rise and create a cushion around the brain. Pop doesn't work because the sugar or sugar substitute doesn't allow the bubbles to cross the blood-brain barrier.

I thought everyone knew that :)

This week's how the hell is going is Bucky going to beat them:

  • Apparently, our desired starting safety, who went down against 'Bama, opening the flood gates to their ultimate flow potential will still not be available. But, his replacement who allowed Md to doctor up all kinds of nifty big pass plays will be there.
    • Ouch. Probably really not much you can do to fix this, but hope the new guy's learned a thing or two.
  • Our offensive line is still not settled. Even with a bye week, Bucky didn't grab 5 guys, say you're doing this, you're going to do it this way, you're going to knock the heads off guys in the wrong jerseys.
    • Ouch.
    • I don't get this. They may all be bad. But for Chryst's sake, grab 4 guys and one guy who can hike the ball, and make them play. Hopefully, grind some cohesion and teamwork into them so they can become a unit, get some pride, become serviceable, and turn this around. I know this is simplistic, BUT it's just football. Whatever our coaches is doing is too complicated and not helping guys who are outmanned. Simplify it - hit that guy.
    • Somehow, they're going to surprise everyone.
I have no idea how it's going to happen, BUT, our Surfer special is finally going to play like Sunshine, and we're going to win. The incoherent heaves that to date have landed in those bastards hands are surprisingly going to plop into super stickem'ed hands of speeding Badgers.

It will happen!

Shocking the World starts at 9am PST on Saturday!

My Epilogue:
  • Bad - Not Happy:
    • Coaches:
      • Bucky played too hard and never quit. They deserved better from the coaches at the end then sending up the white flag. We should have called the timeouts, tried to get the ball back, and tried. Go down swinging for damn sake.
      • Stop the damn trick plays.
        • The wildcats - and yes, wildcat or whatever it's called is a trick play - early in the game on third down. Duh, you're running. Everyone knew it. MI knew it and stuffed it.
        • The Double Reverse - almost worked. Except, and this is big, MI was and is faster than Bucky. They stopped it for a 5 yard gain. A big reason was a tight end or receiver who was supposed to block or at least get in the way of the safety who eventually made a huge tackle, fell down - just fell down on his own - FELL DOWN ON HIS OWN. Please stop with this Tomfoolery, Bucky just doesn't have the speed, talent, or intelligence for trickery.
      • You finally have an effective quarterback and you sub him out for an ineffective quarterback.
  • Surprisingly Good - Happy
    • Quarterback
      • I think we found a Quarterback. I don't care if he was third on the depth chart. He showed more poise and control and understanding of the offense.
      • No, he wasn't perfect but he was better than anything we've seen for awhile.
        • Makes you wonder if there are any other Gamers that for whatever reason aren't seeing the field?
    • Defense
      • Played hard all day.
      • iEven the secondary played better.
        • Yes, MI had a lot of drops, but our secondary played better. At least they were in the TV shot when the receiver caught the ball.
        • I thought MI passing game would expose them, chew them up, and spit them out.
    • Offensive Line:
      • Yes, whatever they did. They played a lot better.
        • I'm not saying they were good. But, they were light years better than they have been.
    • Coaches:
      • They were responsible for all the Happy things above.
      • They finally came out fast.
There's hope. We're getting 4 more wins.

Agree with almost everything you said. What's frustrating is that it took them 5 weeks into the season to figure things out and that speaks to coaches not being on point.

For example, word out of camp was that Heinzen didn't have the feet for OT, but they stuck him there anyway. Took them 5 weeks beyond fall camp to figure out he could help them on the inside. Hopefully they'll leave this line-up intact as much as possible.

Sort of the same with QB, though I understand that a bit more. Simmons clearly has the better arm and processes a little better/faster but I kind of get why Grimes might have wanted O'Neil's running ability as part of the offense.

And yes, for god's sake lets stop with the gimmick plays. You don't do anything well enough to make teams bite on something, which is part of what makes trick plays work.
