2025-2026 Badger Men's Hockey

The weekend broke just about perfectly for the Badgers.

Sitting idle, we moved up to #12 in the NPI. I still say we need 2 more wins to safely make the tournament, but the numbers say as long as we don't blow it against Ohio State in the 1st Round of the B1G we should still get there.

Now that's easier said than done, OSU has been our foil in important spots for a long time.
 
We didn't just sweep those buggers, we spanked them up and down the ice most of both nights and what we did to them in the 3rds in each game just can't be understated. Dominating the last frame 5-0 over the sweep is just beautiful.

With the losses, PSU fell from 5 to 8, then to 11 in the NPI. Bucky did not improve on the number line, having gotten no help beyond taking the opposing team on the ice to the woodshed.

But we are a full NPI point+ over 13, and less than a point from #10. Barring an absolute nightmare scenario, we're almost certain to make the tourney even with a loss against OSU in B1G round 1. But those nightmare cases exist and there are four leagues who could legitimately bid-steal, meaning a loss to OSU isn't safe and I would much rather make sure we get off the 4-seed line by whatever means necessary. I don't think we need to win the B1G, but I think two more wins would get us up to 9 and on the 3-line.

With those wins I thought we would have gotten to 11 maybe 10. Oh well. The beds made.
