The Illinois game was an outlier and then the Covid break. He also played with a true frosh WR & and Walk on at WR. Not ideal
Yeah will give yo that his WR depth was lacking to say the least.

Not sure I could see Allen get some early because I think he only plays 3-4 games before getting redshirted
He’s not going to RS, and he’s too valuable an asset on defense to risk injury on meaningless carries

I think people tend to forget that Mertz suffered a shoulder injury in the game when he came back from Covid. It effected his throws the rest of the season, even though he won't use it as an excuse.

When you're young, just really starting to get the game, and something like that happens, it can disrupt everything.

Shoulders are key in throwing the ball.

That’s one part of it but after Michigan he was out want 2-3 weeks? That’s critical for a new kid in a new system. And Dunn was basically WR2 which is far from ideal.

Really? do you think he starts at LB or Safety? Otherwise why would you not redshirt him

Shoulder injury is also key to not breaking trophies in the locker room after the game LOL>

He hurt his shoulder in the Michigan game. That screwed him up for the rest of the season. I guess they didn't trust Wolf enough to have him start in his place.

I think we're going to see a pretty good QB under center when this season begins. Going on a healthy Mertz against Illinois, and what he did, if he's 60% that effective, he'll be in the top 3 in the Big 10.

I have a hunch we're going to see a pretty darned good mix of passing and rushing out of this team this year. I have a lot of confidence in their personnel to do a solid job. Not having OSU on the regular season schedule doesn't hurt matters either. They, as usual, are going to be a national power.

You don’t RS a kid who i am 95% sure he will be in the 2 deep rotation. Starting and # of snaps is not the same thing

The problem with RS and a solid player is that they jump to the NFL draft after their 4th year anyhow, not taking that 5th.
