Our View: Wisconsin has stock-piled a lot of potential at safety over the 2015 and 2016 classes, but Eric Burrell’s tape puts him in a very different category. Given UW just graduated two big time safeties in Tanner McEvoy and Michael Caputo, there is plenty of playing time for the taking.

Burrell is a ball-hawk on the defensive side of the ball, and while he seems to be a bit small in his measurables, don’t let that fool you. He loves to hit, reads offenses well and could be the next general in the back of the Badgers defense in short order.

Another thing that stands out is the hands on this guy, playing as a slot wide receiver on offense. He sees the field well, catches with his hands and not his body and isn’t afraid of contact. Perhaps the most intriguing part of his tape was seeing him develop as a player around the line of scrimmage on the defensive side of things. Burrell won’t come to Wisconsin as the complete package, but you can bet his talents will find the field quicker than most in this class.

A potential pairing of 2015-signee Arrington Farrar and Burrell could be in the offing and could make Badger fans forget McEvoy and Caputo when its all said and done in Madison.
