Packers 2026/27 Season Thread

GB opened up a bunch of cap space for this year, releasing Jenkins and trading Gary and restructuring McKinney. Unless they swing a major trade this feels like something they're doing to do extensions with Kraft, Watson, Wyatt (note, I have never been right about any prediction).
No, you're correct. They will take a big piece of the savings and resign their own. Gute basically said that the other day about building from within.

Gregg Rosenthal said on TV today that he thinks Malik Willis is better than Lamar Jackson. It's all just a little over the top, and I think a lot of the same people hyped him up to the moon during his draft before he fell three rounds. People never get over their priors.
Let’s see what Willis does without one of the best coaches in the NFL game planning for him.

yes, but he played well within those limitations. and he showed he could adlib a little. so if his new oc can draw up a similar "safe mode" offense for him, he might be okay. maybe willis made copies of the safe mode playbook. the problem will be if they think they're getting another jordan love, because he certainly isn't that.
well, if they thought they were getting Jordan Love, they would have paid him more. Are they hoping that Willis will be a seasoned veteran that can play a couple of years as they develop Ewers? Or are they gonna draft another QB this year? Willis, Wilson, etc are not long term solutions at the QB position.

Willis is a 2 year contract pretty much. If he plays well he will get a long term deal before year 3 because he will hold out and not play under that year 3 number. If he stinks after year 2 Miami will cut him. I won't expect too much of him year one as this is a rebuild team and they are getting rid of a lot of players so they won't have much to work with year one.

I think they're looking for a full blown culture reset there in Miami and Willis is a guy at the most important position who they trust.

It's an interesting move in that if nothing else it's an attempt to add to the boundary corner depth. They've been collecting slot sized guys and this guy is not that.

Ok signing as you said they needed Depth at CB and paying a guy $5 million a year for 2 years is not bad.

Started 3 out of 4 years in Washington and then was backup with LA last year.

St-Juste only missed 2 games over the last 3 seasons, so a bit of durability there hopefully.
