I kind of swallowed my tongue when I read the headline. Reading the article, I kind of saw where it was going. But, I've always felt that being ranked #1 put a target on your back. The Packers are no different. I'd rather be ranked down a little, so we aren't being played by everyone with a chip on their shoulder.

Still, it is nice seeing how some people view the team, while most of us aren't quite that confident.

We're #1! We're #1!

Those were some very interesting stats. I had no idea but it seems ML has this offense and team humming along.

What I find perplexing is how we can have the 25th ranked defense, and still be where we are with the record. It kind of scares me into thinking a bare bones minimum of 35 points on the board is minimun to notch a win.

Strangest season to date that I've ever seen. We shouldn't be #1. We shouldn't be 4-0. Our defense sucks, if you look at it as a 3rd party. Our RBs aren't gaining that much ground, but doing a solid job. Where we're winning is the surgical passing game designed by ML and the Packers, and having a QB who can execute it without panic. Anyhow, that's my thought.

By Jove, I think he's got it.

I’m not a fan of PFF when it comes to rating anything. When you look at raw numbers one it’s a bit different
  • 8th worst in defense rushing yds per attempt @ 4.8 but 8th best in yds per game @100.8.
  • #18 in passing yds per game @247.5 #28 in pass % comp rate @ 72.2%, #28 in QB hits with 20, #29 in tackles for loss only 15 but only giving 990 yds per game 10th best. Yds per attempt? Not good 8.5 6th worst
  • So to sum up the defense too many chunk plays and lack of QB pressure
  • Rush offense is #5 yds per game @150.8 #3 in passing offense 294.8. Rush yds per attempt #5 5.1, pass yds per attempt #4 @ 8.7. Offense has only 19 penalties #4...only 3 sacks given #1 in the league

So really efficient on offense, avg on defense ....a good formula for a 4-0 start

Other stats that stand out
  • 3:31 time of drive, best in league
  • #1 in number of plays 6.9
  • Turnover % #1 in league
  • #14 in 3rd down stops
  • Only blitz 19% of the time, 4th lowest
  • Missed tackles 43 7th worst

No turnovers after 4 games. Not only an amazing stat, but one that says that the Packers haven't handed the ball to the opposition one time with a short field. Every score against the Packers had to be earned.

That means our offense is doing a tremendous job performing as a 12th player for the defense. Even when we don't score, we don't make it easy on the other team.

That doesn't happen if you don't have a QB who can make the key completions on drives. At this point, I believe Rodgers has been most efficient on 3rd down outside the 20s, and especially inside the 10. Between 10 and 20, very careful not to throw it to the wrong guy. He seems to feel there's another play to make it happen.

You can sense the trust between ML and Aaron grows with every game. This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship as long as they can keep working their magic often enough.
