I mentioned this kid before the football season started. Jaden Greathouse. He was a HS freshman, played for state champs, Westlake, as a WR. He's a true 6-3, and growing. Also, a top basketball player, who might end up making all-state in both sports before he's done. He's really that good.

I had a chance to watch Jaden play in grade school, and quite honestly, he could be one of the great WRs in college and in the NFL, down the road. He has "hands." He touches the ball, it's like glued to his fingers.

I know he's talked to Nokia Watson, and Wisconsin, and the Badgers need to turn that off-the-record connection into a recruiting campaign to get a kid on campus who can hang onto a football. I'd be looking to offer him ASAP, and see if you can get a commit. He's really that good.

Don't believe it? Go out and take a look at some of his highlights, then remember, this is a kid who is 14, and just learning how to play the game. He's going to be something special.

Always looking for guys who can catch the ball.

Texas kids can hardly ever qualify at UW anymore.... it's not like the old days you have to meet core plus UW standards. UW doesn't recruit much down there just for this reason.

Yeah the recruitment of Stevenson was the poster child for that. If a kid from Texas is that good (4-5 Star) he’s going to get offers from every Big 12 school & many SEC schools, we have seen that movie before

According to a person I know, he's a decent student. Fits into the same mold as Nokia Watson. Actually said his grades are a tad better than Watson's were at the same point. Watson could get the kid to strongly consider Wisconsin. Apparently he's very happy, and has made it known to Todd Dodge (HC Westlake, & others)

One thing that players are beginning to see, down here, is that northern schools are more inclined to give them a chance to make an impact. Most schools down here bring kids in for depth, and they stay in that slot, and never get a shot at the gold ring. Drew Brees has indicated that's the case as well, and so has Foles. Both come from Westlake, and their influence carries over to the people at Lake Travis. Between the schools closely associated with them, a dozen or more kids end up going DI every year. They're sports magnet schools, like those in Jersey and Florida. They get kids whose sites are set on college programs where they'll get a chance to show their stuff.

Just my thought that they can't dismiss these opportunities. They have to find ways to reach out to those that can make the grade. Those are the ones that often would prefer going to a school where they could take real courses instead of a cake walk for sports.

He’s a freshman let it play out. Watson was a 3 star kid with no SEC or Big 12 offers. Once the big boys get involved UW is an afterthought

Yep if UW is going down south they are getting the scraps Texas, OU, and the SEC don't want. Granted though some of those kids who are only 2 or 3 stars are just as good if not better then some of the kids UW goes after up north.

I disagree with the last part. UW has done ok in Florida and picked a couple of guys out of Texas. Not 4 star kids but a couple 3 star kids

Yes but as I said those are kids that schools down south won't be recuriting hard and if those kids get offers from those schools might be as preferred walk on's UW does not seem to do much at all down south. UW seems to be happy staying in the Midwest and scouting NJ for the most part.
