Offseason to-do list for Badgers basketball

LEARN HOW TO MAKE FREE THROWS!

VA made its last 14. If Bucky was in that game TX Tech wins easily as we watch at least 7 of those clank around like I shot them. In fact because of 1 and 1s, Bucky probably doesn't get 14 attempts.

Bucky would have been in contention if it could make free throws.

Other things would be nice, but make free throws and watch the wins increase
Most of that was Happ @ 46%. Trice was at 73%, Davison was 81%, Pritzl was at 83%. Reuvers and King need to improve there, as a reference point Virginia shot 75% for the year

If the entire team can get near 80% watch the wins increase.

I agree Happ was a huge burden. I want the best for the kid, but I think he's 10 years too late.

Not sure on that, only 8 teams in the top 25 shot 80% or more from the line, zero in the B1G, best was Iowa and MSI at 78%. Even Purdue was well as they shot was 76%

The key next year is King and Reuvers, more so King. He is the only guy who can create his own shot for the most part and IMO has more upside than Harris had

We shot 44.9%. If we increase to 76% Free Throws we will score 5 more points per game on free throws alone.

That doesn't count the good cascade from confidence and not being desperate to score.

And, it takes away the bad cascade from 0 point possessions

Not as a team we did not. We shot 64.8% from the line. And that’s with Happ at 46.6%. 44.9% was from the field

The problem was that Happ was actually a liability down the stretch because of his horrible free throw percentage. Pure numbers of the team only show totals, but stretch drives in games tell a story that hurt the Badgers a lot this past season.

As good as Happ is in some phases of the game, he's horrible in others. I don't know if he's going to have any kind of a real career in the NBA, unless he develops some kind of a shot away from the bucket.

Agree and as strange as it sounds he was a liability at times in the flow of the offense. To your point he did not leave the paint and it not only clogged the middle but movement was stagnant at times.

I'm anxious to see how they line up this coming fall. I don't see Reuvers moving to the post, and I don't know of anyone who would be ready to fill that role.

Reuvers plays the Kaminsky role, and in that offense there was not a true post player, really haven't had one since Steimsma. I think they go with King, Davison, Reuvers, Potter, Trice. First off bench is Pritzl, Ford, Wahl, Hedstrom needs to bulk up and Anderson is coming off injury
