Wonder why they rushed so quick without interviewing Morris or Leonhard

Unless the Leonhard talk was all media driven and ML never had interest in him and ML did not want to wait for Morris to finally make up his mind if he would interview for a job.

ML likes Gannon. Kinda simple as that. ML knows what he wants in a defense and he figures he has that with Gannon

True maybe he thinks running different schemes like Gannon does is best for a defense that does not have a ton of talent and could help confuse other offenses instead of just running say a blitz heavy scheme or something else that focuses on one area.

I don’t believe that Leonard report was ever serious.

There is no scheme that overcomes bad talent. Vic Fangio is everyone's defensive darling - how did he do over in Denver as HC? Miami? Put him in Philly with those DTs and secondary and suddenly he's a genius again?

Gannon has HC experience and DC experience and success as a DC, and I think that's valuable for ML from an organizational perspective. Some coordinators are great at that level but make poor HCs, other coordinators are weak at that level but make great HCs (ML himself falls in this bucket). He wants a guy to run and own that side of the ball and I get it. Gannon was a failure in AZ but he doesn't need to own the locker room in GB or set the overall culture.

I think Gannon will be able to utilize Parsons well, but there is a lot of work to do on that side of the ball with the roster.
