2025 Badger Football Thread

I think the world of those hungry players wanting to go to a school that will give them playing time is gone. We are now in the world of the NIL were hey if I know I am not going to go pro one day I want the most money I can bank in the 4-5 years I got in college and don't care if I don't play that much.
those are the players that you don't want. you want the players who do want to play in the pros someday, and are willing to do whatever it takes to get there.

Regarding Indiana, it's 2026 Quarterback from San Diego just decommitted. Now Indiana doesn't have a 2026 Quarterback.

Of course, he was also committed to Iowa and decommitted from them to commit to Indiana.

It's everywhere. It's a new era. I don't like it, but "it is what it is."

until you sign a letter of intent kids should be able to change mind as much as they want. But I still the biggest mistake is allowing players to switch every year if they want. Players should only be allowed to go into portal once without missing time. They try it more then once they need to go back to old way of having to give up a year before they can play.

I don't like it either . . . but obviously the players love the new rules.
But what are we teaching the players here? They can change their mind at any time, without any repercussions. No accountability, no consequences. A commitment means nothing now. Actually, we need to stop saying they have "committed" to school X, because that's no longer true - we need to say they're leaning towards school X - once they show up then maybe they are committed.

Let's stop right here, SCOTUS already ruled on this stuff.....NIL isn't going anywhere... The portal stuff the NCAA and SEC are monkeying with is already borderline contempt of court.
They can market their services at a price... period. College programs will need to adapt or be left behind.

Will NEVER go back as stated above SCOTUS already ruled on this...it's done.

At least we are beyond the two-portal-window system. It really was a case of a guy showed up and maybe was committed, just to dip in the spring window.

I wonder though how many of these kids remember to pay taxes on there NIL money and how many if they get audited never paid taxes on it
