Hopkins is a really nice get. Had a solid list of offers. No real blue bloods, but a solid list of Power 4/5 schools. He's a good fit for Grimes offense, like Carter Smith. Hopkins will play at Mater Dei High School in CA, which Is a top program nationally, so we'll find our more about him this coming year. (post edited - I had only seen him associated with Mater Dei but turns out he played elsewhere last year, and will move to Mater Dei this fall.)
Now, they need to hold onto him. If he blows up this season and the blue bloods come calling he may get another offer he can't refuse.

he's already backed out on one commitment, so it isn't a stretch to think he might back out on another.

This needs for sure to be a new rule once you commit to a school you can NOT enter the transfer portal twice in the same year. Sorry but TF you committed you are playing at that school for that year.
Again... the courts ruled on all of this, it's not changing no matter how much you want it to. It is what it is.

But, there comes a point where, Wisconsin is going to have to get tough, and say, "If you don't want to be here, there's the door." We care about those who are here.
This latest guy was a Ball State Tight End. He may turn out to be spectacular, but he was from Ball State. We should be able to get someone equal quality with equal upside. To Mr. KozIol, Good Riddance.
And, unfortunately in all honesty, Wisconsin hasn't been lately and isn't much now. Who's poaching from us?

No one is poaching, there is none. These kids are FA, the age of commitment is over. If your going to take the hard ass stance then just leave the Big Ten and move to the MAC right now.
