This signing sounds more like GB got desperate and overpaid when they lost out on all the better CBs in FA.

At 6 feet, 1 inch, Hobbs has three inches on Javon Bullard, who played nickel as a rookie after starting the season at safety. It'll be interesting to see what this move means for Bullard since the Packers aren't paying Hobbs that much to sit on the bench and Bullard was a 2024 second-round pick who flashed as a rookie (assuming 2024 fourth-round pick Evan Williams stays alongside Xavier McKinney at deep safety). If anything, we know both Hobbs and Bullard should be on the field in Green Bay's dime defense. It's possible the Packers also envision Hobbs playing outside with Jaire Alexander's future with the team in flux and Carrington Valentine the only other viable option at the position.

From our Top 150 free agents list on Hobbs: "The physical corner is better in the slot than on the outside, and he has a couple of great games every season. He also disappears for a few games every year and has missed 17 games because of injury in his four seasons."
