Which QB?

Fields has some mechanical issues but he also has some head issues, nuts(( doesn't deal with adversity well, has a tendency to do dumb things when the chips are down.
i realize that it's only one game, but there sure didn't seem to be any of those head issues when he played against clemson in the cfp semi-final. maybe he's starting to get past those issues?

He'll let you down when you least expect it. Honestly, if it wasn't for his sheer athleticism not sure I would keep him at 3.

A few things here,

Justin Fields played qb @ Harrison HS in Kennesaw GA, Trevor L played FB @ Cartersville GA HS. So VERY familiar with both players. Lawrence is a straight-up stud player with all the intangibles you look for.

Niners want Lance, it's not even a well-kept secret. They spent hours with him at his last pro day and more time before that. Unless they red-flag him last minute that's their guy. (y)

Fields will go 3rd and then Jones. After that good luck! hide)
Think you mean Fields 4th then Jones 5th as Wilson will go 2nd.

I really like Fields. I think he will probably have a good NFL career. Of course it really does have something to do with the Team coaching abilities and of course the talent they possess.

For some reason and maybe it's because of what Mark said or Pack said, but many are talking that if 9ers don't take Fields,(Lance seems to be the guy) that Fields go on a major slide. Maybe not as far down as Rodgers did but out of top 10

Seems to be a disagreement in the Niners front office on who to take.... player personal and the GM like Lance... HC wants Fields. Interesting to see how it plays out. If Fields slides he won't go that far, as Pack said someone will trade up.. Bears maybe ??

Just a quick comparison of all the OSU QBs over the last couple of decades who were drafted by the NFL. Some have had some really good stats, but one thing remains true. None of them have been successful to the point of being considered a top 5 pick.

That doesn't mean that Fields won't be successful, but it does point out the fact that OSU's talent surrounding the QB is pretty darned good. In our minds, we need to put Fields on a team without nearly that level of talent, then think about how he'll do in the NFL. I just don't see him as being that successful, but do see him as very athletic.

I've wondered what kind of a career he'd have had he been turned into a WR in college. But, not as an NFL QB worthy of a top 5 pick.

The only guy on that list close to Fields pure talent wise is Haskins but the bigger thing is of the 6 listed, as a group they played under 3 different HC's and offensive systems. I would imagine you could look at QB's at Miami, FSU, Florida or any school that produced high picks and talent around them would be similar

To play devils advocate, I was having this discussion yesterday and one guy pointed out that Burrow had the same talent around him that Jones did at Alabama but Burrow gets a pass. Why? Burrow "looks" the part, more mobile but look at his WR's. Just saying

So, I take it that Mac Jones is no longer in the conversation?
