The date is one week earlier than last year, in keeping with the shift in training camp due to an extra preseason game.

The Green Bay Packers are opening training camp a week earlier than normal in 2016. Thanks to their selection as one of the teams playing in this year's Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, the Packers now have five preseason games on the schedule and players will report for training camp on July 21st instead of their traditional report date about a week later.

Along with that shift comes the expected move of the team's annual Family Night Practice, which is the first chance for Packers fans to see their team under the lights at Lambeau Field. This morning, the Packers announced the date of that event as well as details around ticket sales and the events of the evening.

This year, Family Night will take place on Sunday, July 31st, with events starting at 5:30 PM. For the third straight year, the event will take the form of a traditional full-pads practice rather than a scrimmage. Tickets go on sale for the event on June 27th and will cost $10.

There will also be a fireworks show and a raffle for the jerseys worn during the event by the players, continuing traditions in past versions of the event.

Last year's Family Night was held on August 8th, illustrating that everything involved in Packers camp is moved up a week due to the Hall of Fame Game. That game will take place on Sunday, August 7th, one week after Family Night.

Just me but this lost it's luster since they scaled back the practice and turned it into a circus. tc(
Still a decent thing to do to take young kids to see Lambeau and fireworks and such for $10 a ticket.

Yup, not much of an event for a hardcore football fan, but agree with GBP that it's still a nice affordable event for a family with young kids.
