From no FBS scholarship offers out of high school to the NFL — its a story familiar to Badgers fans, but it’s also the story of outside linebacker Joe Schobert.

His NFL dream came true on Saturday, as he was taken with the very first pick of the day by the Cleveland Browns.

After a solid junior season, Schobert kicked it up a notch with a great senior year and it got him drafter. He racked up 79 tackles, including 19.5 for loss, 9.5 sacks, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries — all of which led to him being named the Big Ten Linebacker of the Year and a first team All-American by both EPSN and the FWAA.

He finished his season with 172 tackles over 45 games, starting 28 of those. He also is 13th on the all-time tackles for loss list despite limited starting time, racking up 35.5 of them during his time at UW.

Schobert will be joining ex-Badger Joe Thomas as the only Wisconsin players on the Browns roster.
