With the tidbits coming out, some disturbing thoughts came to mind.
MM sitting in on GM interviewing process brings several thoughts to mind
1.) Staying in house or part of Ron Wolf tree which fine with. However, am not fine with MM involved. Any GM worth his weight has his own list of HC to work with and rarely stays with coach from previous GM.
2.) Sounding like MM is gaining more power. He needs to be held in check and accountable IMO, not given more power and control.
3.) It's the GM's job to evaluate roster talent, what players to add or not via free agency etc.
It's the draft that has me concerned. A GM has to have free reign IMO to improve the team whether immediate impact or down the road.
Of course they usually work together with HC to assemble the grocery list and there is never enough high picks to fill the list. Allowing the HC to have more power here to acquire players don't think is a good idea and could under mind the GM'S job and what good GM is going to like that? So many ways this could go wrong.
Both Wolf and TT had complete power and control over football side of operations along with hiring and firing of HC.
By having MM in on the process just seems to under mind a GM's job IMO and make the GM job less attractive IMO.
