And now we get to wait for five-plus long weeks until Green Bay resumes its training camp.

On Thursday, the Green Bay Packers wrapped up their mandatory minicamp and released their players for their summer break. This year's break will be a little longer than usual, as the team will start training camp a few days earlier than usual due to the Hall of Fame Game.

Still, it's a nice long month-plus off for these players, though they do have the option of staying in town and working out at team facilities. For one Wisconsin native, that seems like the likely decision, as he tries to make the active 53-man roster for the first time in his career after being on injured reserve one season and the practice squad for week one last year.

In the meantime, it's possible some players might try to communicate with their coaches with some online video communication - but they had better hope that one coach in particular is around to troubleshoot the systems for the older, less tech-savvy members of the staff.

Check out all that and more in today's curds.

This will effectively be Abby's first training camp - he tore his ACL early on as a rookie and had that bad concussion in the first practice last year. He's ready for the challenge of making the roster at such a crowded position, however.

He'll also impress the offensive line with his taste in off-the-field activities - strategy games (including Settlers of Catan) are his favorite non-football pastime.

Doughnuts are for tackling, not eating, at Green Bay Packers practices - ESPN
This was one of the more intriguing drills I observed on Wednesday at practice - the doughnut provides a perfect mobile striking target to practice good technique. These are the only kinds of doughnuts that Martinez will eat up, that's for sure - his clean diet is already becoming another fun topic of discussion.

Datone Jones has the Opportunity to Thrive in new Role | Cheesehead TV
Jones should have plenty of chances on the edge, and if he keeps terrorizing the backfield like he did in Wednesday's practice, he'll continue to earn more snaps.

Maurkice Pouncey hoping to bounce back at surgeries - NFL.com
The Steelers center broke a leg bone against the Packers in the preseason last year, and overcame some scary infections after surgery that ended up holding him out all season.
