Let’s start to critique every damn word. Good lord. Hell is HC basically said the same thing at his presser
Yes, EVERY DAMN word means something coming from Aaron Rodgers. and yes, LaFleur did say something as well, but he put a more positive spin on it.

They both came down hard on the WR. I would not take this as a positive rah rah comment

“And the thing is — and I appreciate this about Aaron — it’s just the urgency to get some of this stuff corrected. You can’t make the same mistake twice, not in this league. We don’t have time for it. That’s just enough time to get you beat”

He added that there were mistakes just lining up in legal formations that can’t happen.

2022 Training Camp Update: August 17th - Joint Practice with the Saints

General:

  • Full pads, joint practice with the Saints today. Packers are wearing white.
  • There won't be any one-on-ones today, just like yesterday.
  • WR Malik Taylor has been released.
  • Welcome to any Saints fans who might be joining us, we have user flair available for you here.
  • This is the last open practice of the season so this is the last "official" camp update thread. It's been fun!
Injuries: OL David Bakhtiari (PUP-knee), K Mason Crosby (PUP-knee), RB Kylin Hill (PUP-knee)

Not Practicing / Limited: RB Patrick Taylor (groin), Darnell Savage (hamstring), S Dallin Leavitt (shoulder), DL Akial Byers (toe), OLB Tariq Carpenter (knee), OL Elgton Jenkins (knee), TE Robert Tonyan (knee), WR Christian Watson (knee), Innes Gaines (?), CB Rico Gafford (ankle), WR Danny Davis (ankle), TE Marcedes Lewis (vet rest)

Offense:

  • Looks like Danny Davis is out with that injury from yesterday. Marcedes Lewis is on a vet rest day.
  • 1st OL Nijman - Runyan - Myers - Hanson - Newman
  • Rodgers, Lazard, Davis, Jones, Watkins, Deguara the other starters.
  • After 7 pre-snap penalties yesterday, first offensive play is a false start by Davis.
  • Rodgers overthrows Lazard on an intermediate crosser. Well off target.
  • Jones run behind Hanson/Newman - nothing doing.
  • Nice run by Dillon off the right side.
  • Marcus Maye picks off Rodgers on a play action deep post to Doubs . Ball hung up and no real separation. Good defense. Rodgers not happy and shows Doubs he wanted route more to the post. Ball was either under thrown or Doubs was really out of position.
  • Another nice run by Dillon this time off left side. It’s been two nice runs by Dillon and nothing else has worked at all.
  • Patrick Taylor with a nice little run off a block by Caleb Jones. Taylor finished with a nice stiff arm.
  • Patrick Taylor stuffed off right tackle.
  • Tom at RT with the starters now.
  • Two straight runs to that side of the line go absolutely nowhere. Packers offense missing Marcedes in run blocking today.
  • Another right side run by the offense, another stuff. Running behind Newman/Tom/Davis not working.
  • Run left - same result. Nothing doing for the offense so far.
  • Tyler Goodson run left. Stuffed. Been a roughhhh start.
  • Love showed great poise in the pocket but throws well outside of Hyman uncatchable. He was well covered anyway.
  • Williams stuffed on a left side run.
  • Tyrann Mathieu is so fascinating. He’s somewhere new every snap.
  • Jordan Love sacked by Niko Lalos and a drop by Tyler Davis.
  • Packers first period on offense: No complete passes - 1 interception - 1 false start - 2 nice Dillon runs - 1 solid Taylor run - about 12 runs stuffed at or behind the LOS.
  • Rodgers back shoulder in red zone to Watkins who made a fantastic catch through contact at the goaline for a touchdown vs. Paulson Adebo.
  • Rodgers sacked in red zone by Granderson.. Give the Saints’ coverage credit.
  • Cameron Jordan gets around Newman, Rodgers steps up right, throws low and right for Davis who dives but can’t come up with it.
  • Rodgers slant to Cobb broken up.
  • Love DIME TD to Winfree back-shoulder. Rope to the endzone. Winfree won clean on the route.
  • Love to a sliding Toure in red zone for a touchdown on a low throw crossing route. Nice job by Love of stepping up in the pocket.
  • Doubs almost comes down with a phenomenal one handed catch from 12 but it falls incomplete. A bit high and to the left from Rodgers.
  • Rodgers tries to pump fake but ball comes out incomplete.
  • Doubs diving grab on Rodgers rollout by pylon for score.
  • Rodgers to Winfree for a sliding touchdown on a rollout.
  • Love throws high for Amari, probably woulda been sacked. Slow play. Nobody open.
  • Last red-zone rep is a bullet pass from Jordan Love to Romeo Doubs on an out route for TD.
  • Dillon middle run - short gain.
  • Slot blitz all over Rodgers. Sack.
  • Rodgers overthrows Watkins deep. Tough angle but Watkins looked like he had a half step.
  • Smoke screen to Winfree - saints all over it.
  • Play of the day on offense - Rodgers finds Josiah Deguara deep middle over Demario Davis. Great separation by Deguara and a dime by 12.
  • Dillon run right - notta.
  • Rodgers low and incomplete over the middle to Deguara. He’s been uncharacteristically off today.
  • Slot blitz by CJGJ catches GB off guard again - Jones didn’t get over quick enough in pass protection- Rodgers throws right of Doubs incomplete.
  • Caleb Jones at RT with the 2s today. Van Lanen - Tom - Menet - Rhyan - Jones.
  • Goodson with an explosive run inside against the 2s.
  • Love quick throw outside to Hyman for a short pickup.
  • Love to Mack over the middle, 7-8 yards ish.
  • Packers number one offense with same two minute drill: 35-28. 1:08 - 2 timeouts. First and 10 on own 25.
  • Cam Jordan bullied Newman into backfield. Rodgers to Doubs over the middle. Clock ticks.
  • Checkdown to Dillon - clock ticks - timeout. Gb to their own 40 - 44 seconds left.
  • Rodgers to Doubs quick screen good pickup out of bounds.
  • Rodgers buys times and finds Watkins over the deep middle. - clock ticks. Spike - 20 seconds left.
  • Ball batted down at the line incomplete.
  • Rodgers and Watkins not on same page, looked like Watkins had a step but Rodgers missed him. Should have been picked by Adebo. Saints dropped an easy one. 4th down coming up - 13 secs left.
  • They call a sack - Rodgers didn’t think so he got a checkdown off that picked up the first. Rodgers not happy with the decision. Offense stalls, defense wins.
  • Aaron Rodgers on New Orleans sideline, giving hugs to Saints. A playful shove of Demario Davis.
  • Packers number twos up next.
  • Love to Mack outside. Complete and gets out of bounds.
  • Love to Amari over the middle for a 20-yard pickup. Timeout. Ball at midfield - 56 secs left.
  • Jordan Love throws a bomb to rookie Samori Toure, who got behind Saints defense on a corner route for a 50-yards TD. Perfect ball to the wide-open Toure. Play of the day. Bradley Roby in coverage.
  • Love rolls right hits Toure again on sprint to pylon for 2pt play and the win. Bradley Roby in coverage.
Defense:

  • Rashan Gary is back for the first team period and he's already in Dalton's face.
  • And we’ve got a major fight between Packers defense and Saints offense. CB Eric Stokes and Jarvis Landry get caught in a riddle after the whistle, and Packers entire defense took umbrage. Then Saints offense joined the fray. Pile in the middle of the field.
  • Tipa sack of Book. Defense doing defense things again.
  • And now Barnes shoots through for TFL of Tony Jones.
  • Rashan Gary and Preston Smith just blew up Saints tackles to sack Andy Dalton.
  • Gary and Clark collapse edge and stuff NO run.
  • De’Vondre Campbell just got to Andy Dalton real quick for a “sack”. Penalty on the Packers defense though.
  • Preston Smith & Rashan Gary (again) meet at the QB. Andy Dalton woulda got LIT.
  • Dalton to Trautman for 10, rolling right off PA.
  • Kamara run goes nowhere. Stuffed by Dre.
  • Dre comes clean on a blitz. Another sack.
  • Kobe Jones had made some plays, just backed the fullback into Book.
  • Trevor Penning went to locker room. Limped off. Hurst also leaving.
  • TJ Slaton sacks Ian Book.
  • More extra curricular after a run from Tony Jones Jr. Not as big of a scrum this time though.
  • Back to back sacks to start red zone. Clark pulled up in front of Dalton on second.
  • Second red-zone rep, Kenny Clark sack.
  • Saints having problems with GB’s ILB blitzes. Barnes just had a free shot at Book off the edge. Barnes already has a TFL, PBU and sack today.
  • Doxtater is at LT with the first team.
  • Dalton with a few TD throws in deep red zone. Finds Krull on a crosser.
  • Saints tight ends make some plays but the pass rush was overwhelming in red zone.
  • OL Sage Doxtater leaves practice with a trainer holding his left forearm and is in serious discomfort.
  • Mark Ingram busts one up the middle in move the ball period.
  • Gary stuffs the tight end and Kamara on next play, then forces Dalton OB and hugs the linesman.
  • Saints rookie Chris Olave makes a splash, beating Rasul Douglas deep down the left sideline and making a terrific catch over his shoulder from Andy Dalton. That’s the one question for Douglas, whether he can stay with the quicker receivers in slot.
  • Alvin Kamara capped the drive with a short TD run.
  • Saints WR Deonte Harty gets behind CB Kiondre Thomas, but Ian Book misses him deep down the right sideline.
  • Deonte Harty runs the same route deep down the right side vs. Keisean Nixon, and this time he’s blanketed. Good coverage from Nixon.
  • Jarvis Landry left practice after a brief skirmish between the teams earlier. Not sure if it was injury related or because of his involvement in the fracas.
  • Two min drill incoming. Saints offense vs. Packers defense. 35-28. 1:08 - 2 timeouts. First and 10 on own 25.
  • Dalton to Olave for 6 - out of bounds.
  • Crosser to Juwan Johnson for a short first down - clock runs.
  • Jarran Reed with a pressure but someone on Packers d offsides.
  • Jarran Reed with another pressure. Saints get a completion for first down. (Short)
  • Rashan Gary would be sack. Dalton throws it away.
  • Olave with separation from Jaire on a deep out for a big gain out of bounds. That rookie can play.
  • Penning is back btw.
  • Dalton incomplete Over the middle. 20 seconds left.
  • Dalton incomplete again. Looked like Quay was in coverage.
  • Excellent pass rush by Tipa. Uses that speed or his. May have been a sack.
  • Kenny gets home from 5T alignment.
  • Kobe Jones pressures (sacks?) Dalton on a stunt that wasn’t picked up. Rashan Gary, helmet off, comes running off the Packers sideline to congratulate him.
  • False start saints. 4th and insanely long coming up.
  • Enagbare sacks Dalton with the No. 1 defense for the win. He’s been hot lately.
  • Saints number twos on the 2 min drill next.
  • Enagbare shoves the left tackle right back into the QB. That 5th rnd pick is showing out lately.
  • And Enagbare with a rip move looks like it drew a hold. My lord.
  • Lucas Krull has made a couple of nice catches during second team 2-minute work. Ian Book looks for him early and often.
  • Packers number two defense stops the Saints number two offense. Defensive front was swarming again.
Special Teams:

  • New safety De’Vante Cross was relentless as a jammer on the PR unit.
  • Christian Watson took a turn as the punt returner but not against live full-speed coverage. Amari Rodgers then Romeo Doubs went first and second.
  • Kiondre Thomas draws an illegal block in the back penalty as gunner.
  • Tyler Davis with his second false start of practice. This time on the punt team.
  • Isaiah McDuffie in the middle of a little skirmish in ST drills. Nothing major.

Practice is over.

Next Event:
Preseason Game vs Saints, August 19th

Media:

  • Tonyan individual work video
  • Etling hits the net on the move video
Interviews:

LaFleur
Presser:

  • Matt LaFleur said that there were 7 pre-snap penalties on offense against the Saints and that wasn't acceptable.
  • LaFleur: "AJ Dillon, there’s not too many backs that size with his hands who are true halfbacks. Some fullbacks can do that, but not halfbacks.
  • LaFleur said that some of the young WRs mistakes are easily correctable and that they are going through some growing pains. But he said he understood Rodgers' impatience with it because the season is getting closer.
  • Matt LaFelur on Romeo Doubs: "He did a great job at the line of scrimmage yesterday beating press coverage. That's a salty defense." He wants to see Doubs' hands be more consistent than the past week. "When you get behind the defense, you've got to finish the play."
  • No one-on-ones, LaFleur says.
  • Gary will be back at practice today after dropping out yesterday. Injury wasn't anything serious.

  • Rodgers overthrows Lazard on an intermediate crosser. Well off target.
  • Rodgers low and incomplete over the middle to Deguara. He’s been uncharacteristically off today.
Ahem.. "We've got to be way more consistent. We've got to get better in that area."

This is why you watch what you say.

Packers claimed former Eagles’ WR Travis Fulgham off waivers from the Broncos.
