Post Game Thread : Packers Tame Bears move to 4-2

i don't know. it's just really hard for me to get excited about beating a really bad team that went from playing its backup quarterback to playing it's third quarterback in the middle of the game. i mean it's like we started out playing against a team with one had tied behind their backs and we literally couldn't do spit against them. and then we tied their other hand behind their backs and somehow managed to win handily. i feel no sense of pride in this win. i don't feel any better about our offense than i did before the game started. our receivers still can't get open, and even if they could rodgers still can't throw the ball accurately more than 12 yards downfield.

like i said in the shout section this morning, i have no expectations at all for this team for the rest of this season. i'm just going to watch the games for the entertainment factor and try not to get too emotionally invested.

I agree with you realitybytes. We knew this game was coming and we knew the ramifications of a win. A lot of people would jump up and down and exclaim that the Packs offense and AR were back on track. The majority, around here at least, was tempered in their expectations because we had just witnessed a thrashing by a dang good team in the Cowboys and we also knew the caliber of team on the horizon. That team, the Falcons, is now the next game and that one will tell us a little more about where this team sits in the NFC. This Packers team should dispatch the bad teams but I'm afraid they'll still struggle with the better teams. I think they'll be 11-5, maybe 10-6, unless the wheels fall off.

Yeah, it was just the Bears. I don't care, how many times do you hear that in the division match ups you throw out the odds. Chicago had won two of the last three at Lambeau and we were favored in those by 7+ points.
I thought ARod threw the ball better and would have had two more TDs if Cobb could have completed the plays, one he juggled away and the other he couldn't 'dead leg' it on the endline. Both of those passes were on the money.
I think its entertaining when people point out other teams injuries as excuses for them, but our injuries shouldn't matter. The Bears weren't any more beat up than we were. We were supposed to win and we did. We just did it differently than usual.
Thought ARod, Adams and Monty looked better. Thought Perry continued to play well along with our two ILBs.
It was surprising that Crosby missed an extra point and had the FG blocked.
Please tell me how Barclay made this team. He steps on the field and God punishes us. He is the worst OL we have. He's the one they blew up for the strip sack TD. You may not have seen him because he was on the ground tripping up ARod.

We need our CBs to return for Atlanta, because Julio will eat up Gunter and Hyde. IMO

Please tell me how Barclay made this team.

I have NO idea.

Well, I might have an idea. Wasn't he a UDFA in '12 or '13? And then stuff happened and now, he's still here?? Why, people, why?

We've hated the 'B' word for some time, as we all know. He sucks.

As Dubz said:

He steps on the field and God punishes us.

I was disappointed in Cobb. He bobbled the rock first, and then he apparently forgot about the 'toe tap'?
I don't know. Maybe he's having some sort of confidence crisis. He was just married or engaged lately.

There were some really great plays, and some guys stepped up big time, but I'm holding back on enthusiasm until I see how they play vs ATL.

The Bears weren't any more beat up than we were.

not sure i can agree with that. when you start the game playing your backup qb and then are forced to go to yourthird string qb during the game . . . in a qb-centric league, i'd say that's pretty tough to overcome.

When Jay Cutler is your starter, you are better off with Hoyer at QB. So really it was their starter and back up. I get the point though.

from pff:

Less than a week ago Ladarius Gunter put up the lowest-graded game of any cornerback this season. If the Packers had everyone healthy in their secondary, Gunter may not have made it through the week. He looked like a completely different player on Thursday night though, [bcolor=#ffff00]even though he was tasked with handling Alshon Jeffrey the majority of the night. The former undrafted free agent allowed three catches for 33 yards on nine targets and had a pass defensed.[/bcolor] His play was crucial in shutting down the Bears offense before the wheels fell off when QB Brian Hoyer went down.

Top defensive grades:
ILB Blake Martinez, 86.3
OLB Clay Matthews, 83.7
CB Ladarius Gunter, 82.8
OLB Nick Perry, 82.5
NT Kenny Clark, 79.6

Even though the wide receivers were still struggling to get open downfield at times, the Packers’ short, quick passing game was pretty in-sync and looked more like the offense we’ve seen in recent seasons. [bcolor=#ffff00]On dropbacks that that lasted 2.5 second or less, Rodgers completed nearly 80 percent of his 34 attempts for a 117.4 passer rating.[/bcolor]

Top offensive grades:
LG Lane Taylor, 83.7
RT Bryan Bulaga, 79.7
WR Davante Adams, 79.6
QB Aaron Rodgers, 79.5
RG T.J. Lang, 78.6

[anyone else shocked to see ty montgomery's name missing from that list?]

With the Packers short on running back depth, WR Ty Montgomery had 47 snaps lined up in the backfield and slot WR Randall Cobb had another nine. Even though Green Bay didn’t run the ball often, those two had success when handed the ball with a combined 81 rushing yards (66 after contact) and three missed tackles on just 14 carries. In the passing game, Jordy Nelson had a quiet night, but it didn’t matter. Montgomery, Cobb, and Davante Adams each had double-digit receptions, with Adams earning the highest grade of his three-year career.

Gunter looked good. In jest, during the game, I threw out that Gunter would be the star that night. I'm glad he was because this secondary needs it
