This whole demand for interviews seems to me to be a power play by Goodell. Dude is always trying to push his authority. He's always on some kind of a mission to promote the idea that he has absolute power as judge AND jury over any situation with players.

If he wanted that, he should have demanded it in the CBA.

The fact is, the "regular" owners are afraid of him. Guess what, I'm not. Is anyone with me? Let's start our OWN legal process. Dude is engaging in racketeering. Restraint of trade. Any lawyers who have a piece of stock? Let's put a stop to this douchebag once and for all. After all, he's also ruining the game.

Well fact is that the CBA does give him the right to be judge, jury and executioner. And courts have upheld that.

Sorry to dissapount but the share of stock you own gives you no power

Racketeering? Restrain of trade? Humor me ---how

NFL owners tell Goodell what to do. They work for him. He makes them lots of money. Union is no better in how they work also. Packer stock is worthless and is just for show. Murphy holds all voting power for the team with the league. Behind him is the BOD. Packers "owners" have zero say in how the team or league can be run.

PS Goodell DOES have all power and it is in the CBA. The players are bitching and crying because their union was inept and gave Goodell that power.

FALSE.

Goodell does not have the right to hassle players like this. He is attempting to obtain that power by constantly depriving players of their ability to do their jobs. Ask Tom Brady about that.

Goodell has the right to be judge and jury IF THERE IS CREDIBLE EVIDENCE that a players has done something wrong. That does not exist in this case.

We have no idea what Goodell has as far as evidence. That is the problem. The players don't know what they are walking into in an interview. It may be a simple did you do it or not or it may be explain this receipt in your name for this banned substance. Goodell does not have to share his evidence until the conclusion of the investigation if there is going to be punishment.

Interview of a player is 100% within his rights. Payton Manning was interviewed in this case because of what was written in the article. The league has the right to investigate and interview. And fact is none of us know what league security has developed in their investigation. Ask Brady? Well the courts sided with the league.

Oh as to "Hassel" players. They have a little clause in their contract called "conduct detrimental to the league".

Oh. Racketeering? Restraint of trade?

Actually it's also in the CBA that Goodell can suspend someone if they refuse to cooperate with a investigation. That's what Goodell is using in this case. Several years ago Brett Favre was fined 50 grand when he refused to talk to the league regarding the text pics he sent that Jet employee.

Begs the question: Goodell set precedent that $50k fine is the punishment for failure to cooperate. Suddenly that explodes to indefinite suspension?

Good point. Just an educated guess that PED use is more detrimental to the league th N a dick pic. Plus the CBA gives broad leeway and discretion

It's true the CBA is broad with the conduct detrimental, but in the case of PED usage it does mention there having to be reasonable evidence. If the NFL has reasonable evidence it needs to notify those players of what that evidence is and far as I know it hasn't done that. All the league has is one retracted report based on illegally recorded conversations, which the NFL itself has said bears no credibility.

Lets call this what it is: this dog and pony show has nothing to do with PEDs, just like deflate gate had nothing to do with footballs. This is all about an employer pushing the boundaries on control over his workforce. We can talk about practical reasons why these guys should comply and get it over with, but is there any question this inconsistency and ever broadening interpretation of CBA language is terrible for the league and for the future of the sport? Brady threw himself on his sword over this issue, if CMIII or Peppers do the same and drag this out again I have to imagine many owners will start to get sick of the attention.
