Weiland was a member of the inaugural Wisconsin women's hockey team in 1999-2000
Kerry Weiland will become the first member of any Wisconsin women's hockey team to be inducted into the Wisconsin Athletics Hall of Fame when they add the class of 2015 in early September.
A native of Anchorage, Alaska, Weiland was a member of the first women's hockey team to take the ice for Wisconsin. She is still second among defensemen on Wisconsin's all-time points list with 124 ans sixth overall.
The Badgers' first women's hockey All-American, Weiland was a second-team pick in 2001 and a first team pick in 2002. She was named either first- or second-team WCHA in each of her four years with the Badgers. She was assistant captain both her junior and senior years.
Weiland had an extensive international career, winning two golds and two silvers with the US at IIHF Women's World Championships and a silver medal at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. She also played on five Four Nations Cups teams. In addition to her time on the ice, Weiland competed for team USA in four Women's World InLine Hockey Championships.
Weiland had hoped to be named to the 2006 Olympic roster. When that didn't happen, she spent time playing professionally in both Switzerland and Canada before eventually reaching her goal and being named to the 2010 team.
