Too early in my book.
Thought they had eyes for Brenden Jaimes?
At least Newman has G/T versatility

This is another issue the Packers want every OL to be able to play at least 2 if not more spots because an average OL who can play 2 spots is better then in their eyes then a good OL who only plays one spot.

for me, this is the first really bad pick in this draft for gute based on who was still available. the stokes pick was a minor reach. doubt he would have made it to the second round pick. meyers was rated almost the same as the next center that was selected by the bucs - similar value i guess. moving up for rodgers was questionable. but using a fourth round pick for newman? big reach.

btw, mark - was this really their 3rd pick? thought it was the 4th.

Happens every year at this point in the draft, and not just with the Packers. You start to hear names that don't seem to show up anywhere except the most dedicated sites and even then they are ranked so low you pay little attention to them. I was doing little chores around the house and came back to the TV and saw a TE named Kylen Granson going to the Colts at #127. I was like "who". Never heard of him. Was #235 at ESPN and not even listed on a couple of the other sites I use.

Don't really know if this is a "bad" pick at this point. Same problem as the Colts TE. Never really looked at him. He's versatile and athletic (that damn RAS score again). They seem to value those things in their OL. Seems like a guard but maybe he can play some RT in a pinch. I like that they are working hard to build/rebuild their o-line. If AR is back it'll help him. If he isn't it'll help Love stay upright and even more important help their run game so they don't rely on the QB so much.

As an aside, maybe Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers should trade spots. Wilson's biggest complaint was that the Seattle FO didn't do enough at o-line to help him.
