    • Musgrave deep completion. Ran right past AJJ
    • Sims/McKinney feet get tangled
    • Bo wins easy vs king despite a hold
    • Heath a gorgeous catch deep vs Rochell. Stacked him and high pointed it.
    • DuBose easy win vs Green. Nice route.
    • Awesome coverage from Nixon on Watson. Somehow Watson comes up with it but only for 2 yards.
    • Toure wins off the line easy against Bullard. Easy completion.
    • Davis holds on for dear life against Wayne. PI called.
    • Heath beats Rochelle short.
    • Musgrave easy win vs AJJ
    • Doubs a slight step on Jaire again but this time overthrown
    • DuBose can’t come up with the sideline deep ball vs Green
    • Swinson nice hands catch vs Evan Williams
    • Wayne fantastic adjustment and a sliding catch vs Davis. Wayne’s a really fun player.
    • Musgrave win vs McKinney on a slant.

    • Walker beats Smith
    • Myers beats Slaton

  • Starters in team:
    • Love
    • Jacobs
    • Melton - Watson - Doubs
    • Musgrave
    • Walker - Jenkins - Myers - Rhyan - Tom
  • Jacobs comes up banged up after a run in team. It looked like maybe holding his hand. Back in after one play out.
  • Melton shows his speed on a jet sweep. Jaire comes up to make the stop.
  • Lloyd just jogged into the Hutson center and comes back out. He’s ok.
  • Musgrave picks up Bullard on next play, giving love time to hit Jacobs underneath.
  • Dillon with a fantastic and I mean fantastic blitz pickup on Rashan Gary. Soooo much value to the team on a play like that.
  • Love struggling to find completions today. Defense is winning early.
  • Malik Heath is down on the field after taking a huge hit. Trainers are looking at his left thigh. He got up with the trainers and went inside and now has returned to the practice field.
  • Tom gets pitted against Clark on third and 9 and holds his ground. Impressive rep to give love time. OL play so much more stout with Tom out there.
  • Love connected with Wicks on a second and 11 crosser.
  • Nice blitz pickup by Lloyd in team. Not as good as Dillon’s earlier but that’ll be a key part of his development.
  • Nice little toss play to the right for Jacobs. He’s looked really good these last couple days.
  • Love gets Walker to declare with hard count, checks, Walker blitz and love hits Watson for a nice gain in seam as hot read.
  • Love finding some rhythm now. Back to back completions. This time to Wicks vs Jaire.
  • Red zone period. Doubs TD. Stop me if you’ve heard this before. Play of the day for the offense. Great ball and sliding catch.
  • Clifford to Toure for a td in red zone. Nice find by 6 and AJ easy catch run for 83. Flag on the play though. Not sure what.
  • Dillon runs a wheel route out of a pony look and catches it for the first down in red zone.
  • Clifford incomplete deep to Toure. Gave him a jump ball. Def contested. Incomplete and turnover on downs.
  • Packers offense just ran classic split backs with Jacobs and Dillon. Love hits Dillon out of the backfield on an angle route. So beautiful I could cry.
  • Love to Wicks over the middle for a nice gain. First down. Clock ticks.
  • Love - Musgrave complete for 9 and out of bounds.
  • Beautiful throw and catch from Love to Wicks downfield and out of bounds. 1st and 10 in defense territory around the 20. 50 seconds left. They still have the timeout. Wicks putting on a show today. Dude just gets open. Doesn’t matter who’s on him.
  • Christian Watson is down after a collision with Evan Williams. Whole WR room and Jordan Love are kneeling around him. He gets up with the trainer and is walking by himself with a little limp. He flashes two thumbs up walking off the practice field.
Defense:

  • 1 vs. 1
    • Gary just hit Telfort with a hump move. He bulls him on next play but Telfort stands up to it
    • Balentine pbu vs Toure
    • Nixon pbu vs Wicks. Possible hold.
    • Doubs had a half step deep vs Jaire but ball under thrown - Jaire pbu
    • Bo Melton just ran a really nice route and Kalen King stuck with him the entire way and broke up the pass.
    • Ballentine great coverage on Hicks.
    • Anderson solid coverage on Sims
    • Brooks beats Monk
    • Smith beats Walker
    • Slaton beats Myers
    • Gary beats Telfort
    • Wooden beats Newman
  • Starters in team:
    • Gary - Slaton - Clark - Smith
    • McDuffie - Quay
    • Jaire - Nixon - Stokes
    • Bullard - McKinney
  • Jonathan Ford has done some nice things this summer. Two good reps vs Smith in 1 on 1s.
  • Preston and Walker, and Jenkins and Clark had some good work. Sean Rhyan held strong vs Wyatt.
  • McKinney great pbu on a deep ball to Watson from Love.
  • Wyatt nice pressure inside, flushes Clifford to his right. Short completion to the tight end.
  • Enagbare comes free on PA and blows up rollout for Sims
  • Brenton Cox making noise in the backfield today. Two TFLs against the run in the last couple plays.
  • Devonte Wyatt just shot through line to force Love to throw it away deep.
  • Lukas Van Ness stunt inside and bats Love pass at LOS.
  • Clifford with limited time on third and 6 and Brooks tags off for the sack.
  • Rochell nice diving pbu against DuBose on a throw from Clifford.
  • Pocket collapses on Love. Would be sack. I believe Cox was in there but Gary may have been as well.
  • McKinney all over a Dillon run to the left.
  • Devonte Wyatt in the backfield again and love has to dirt it.
  • Xavier McKinney picks off Love on a pass high for Musgrave over the middle. Tipped off Musgrave’s hands and McKinney came down with it. Quay Walker looked to be shaken up on the play, but he appears to be alright on the sideline.
  • You know who is quietly having a really nice camp - Arron Mosby. Comes up with a play almost every day. Just tipped a pass on a Pratt rollout.
  • Kitan Oladapo comes up with a pbu in team. Nice to see him get some time and make a play!
  • Five yard penalty, defense jumps and Rochell breaks up pass for Toure in EZ.
  • TJ Slaton with a big time run stop in red zone. A little flex after from 93.
  • Hopper breaks up first down pass to Wilson.
  • Wooden sack on second down of twos two minute.
  • Anthony Johnson Jr is getting work on his right calf after going down.
  • Love to Watson back of the end zone but Evan Williams out jumps him for it for a game ending pick. Huge play for Williams. Bad decision for Love.
Special Teams:

  • Alex Hale makes all three FG in his first practice.
  • Joseph sits at 41/48 - 85.4%
  • Carlson sits at 38/48 - 79.2%
  • Malik Heath is back in doing special teams drills. Great news. That looked bad.
  • With Reed out dealing with a calf injury, Nixon, Toure and Doubs are taking turns at punt returner.
  • Hale makes from 33 and 40R but missed wide right from 45 after a high snap from Bowden.
  • Alex Hale 5/6 - 83.3%

Interviews:

  • Matt LaFleur: Presser
    • Says Jordan Morgan (shoulder) will be out for a week or so. Nothing long term.
    • Said they’ll be careful with Quay.
    • "He looked better than I would've expected," LaFleur said of Zach Tom's debut.
    • Notes the Packers never really had Tucker Kraft and Luke Musgrave each at full strength late in the year.
    • On Josh Jacobs: "He hit some speeds yesterday that were exciting to see. He's just a tough, rugged runner."
    • Says CB Carrington Valentine and LB Edgerrin Cooper are "not quite yet" ready for practice.
    • On yesterday's kicking period: "It was like kicking into a tornado. ...Very rarely will it ever be that windy in any stadium we'll play in"
    • Bullard has been the "starter" opposite McKinney the last three practices. The rotation will continue, though, LaFleur said.
    • On Hopper: “Yesterday I thought was probably one of his best days. I thought he responded really well.”

I know it's not popular saying that the starters should play in preseason games. But I think that's how you get them ready for the opening of the season. This idea that you need to play 4 games into the season before you get your legs under you isn't logical. If you get off to a quick start, glitches along the way aren't as harmful.

I understand the risks for injuries, but that's the risk you take, to get them ready. I'm glad Matt's taking that route, and may actually play them some in all 3 preseason games. It doesn't have to be a lot, but enough for them to get oriented to the game contact, and speed of plays in real time. It's going to give guys like Jacobs a chance to feel how his linemen are going to carry out assignments.

Tomorrow night is going to be a fun game to watch. Lots of new options on the table.

Counterpoint, yesterday Watson banged his knee and just this afternoon Jordan Love tweeked his knee. Both seem fine but… how much of a risk do you want to take with them two days after injury?
