Preseason Game 1: Post Game Green Bay Defeats Cleveland 23-10

Quite a few players who will be part of the mix next year didn't dress for the game yesterday. Considering the short amount of time that both offensive and defensive players who will be part of that mix next year played very little, I thought that the players who are vying for depth positions did quite well. Especially those on defense.

As an added note, I do like the personnel we have for the 4-3 concept on defense. It's going to be an extremely interesting year to see just how high up the ladder they move towards being one of the best.

I'm hopeful the Packers can work out a trade or two that sends some of their WR depth that simply won't make the PS after cuts this year for OL depth...

If not, then we need a nationwide internet and phone outage ten minutes before final cuts in hopes the Packers get as many players from their preseason roster squeezed onto the PS quietly as possible.

Jones is interesting, packers have carried him on roster for a couple of seasons so might be higher on him than we think. Maybe they like him as 6th OL in short yardage but that’s not really worth the roster investment.

Williams may be pushing Bullock for starting safety spot. Love to see the depth there as we have struggled to find good safeties. New defense looked great, so far so good.

Hot takes from the game...

Limited sample, but the TD play to Wicks from a QB perspective was as good as 12 ever did it. Love is HIM. WR depth is perhaps the best we've ever seen. It lacks the "star" but any number of dudes can go the distance on any play. Some will say "it's the NFL, every team can say that." Not so...

OL depth looks to be the best it's been in a while...and without Major Tom...2nd team OL was mashing CLE.

Defense a work in progress...but many key guys esp at LB were out...I like what I saw so far in terms of aggressive play, and throwing different looks...if this was "vanilla," it was certainly "butter pecan," compared to the Dingle Barry scheme.

Bummer on Lloyd's injury...hopefully it won't keep him out long.
