Post Game GB Falls To Vikings 31-29

To be honest, I don't think the defense is playing poorly. Yes, they have some glitches, but it's more to do with the depth issues on the roster, and guys do get dinged up out there, and need to miss snaps. I think Hafely is doing fine.

I'm not going to let yesterday's loss cloud my judgment on this team. I was impressed on how well Love came out of the tunnel for the second half. He'd started the game playing tentatively, but picked it up as the game progressed. I think he learned to quit worrying out the knee, and began doing what he does best.

The dumb mistakes on the offensive line, and the dumb mistakes on the defensive line, getting penalties called on them that didn't need to happen. That's what needs to be straightened out.

As far as our kicker, the endless line of try outs, and guys replacing guys isn't helping any of them get better. I'm not convinced that we have the right guy out there to be candid. But I don't know that they had better options. Don't go by the 5 FGs Joseph kicked in game 3, that was an anomaly. He got them, but most of them were extra point length or less.

We're 2-2. When Love went down, I wondered if we'd even have one win at this point. We came away with one piece of knowledge from yesterday's game. The Packers can beat the Vikings, all they have to do is play 4 quarters of football. We're still in the hunt.

greg joseph's field goals vs the cowturds yesterday: 52 yards, 42 yards, 41 yards, 38 yards and 22 yards. all except one of those kicks were longer than the 37 yarder that narveson missed. btw, in the nfl, the line of scrimmage for an extra point kick is 15 yards from the goalposts, which is a 33-yard attempt. so 4 out of 5 were longer than a extra point attempt. do more research before you post.

This was one of those games, you can say a whole lot about it or you can say very little. It was just sloppy. In some ways expected, the elephant in the room being Love's return and playing with the knee injury. Only one way to figure out how to play winning football with a bad knee and that's to go out and do it. Early on we all saw how he wasn't stepping into throws and the ball was sinking or sailing - BUT the WR really didn't help out their guy coming back from injury by making those tough catches. You don't see this by box score reading but WR around the league are making tough catches off imperfect throws every week. I don't buy this "if the throw wasn't perfect it's not the WR's fault for dropping it" stuff, make a play for your QB. On the other side, WR were getting open and Love wasn't reading them right and making things harder on them - the knee is a reason but not an excuse, gotta learn how to throw to them properly with the injury.

I wish with all my heart that this team knew how to start fast. I've only ever seen it happen in 2011. When I look over the 4 games as a whole, I see so much potential in the offense if they can clean up the penalties and get out of their own way and start to gel. I see the potential in the defense to play well enough to win these games when the O is scoring 25+, but they need that corner situation stabilized. It's all there for them still this year, and at the end of the day I would much rather be playing our best ball in November-December than playing our best ball in September like the Vikings are.

RP,

My concern on D is this defensive line doesn't seem to be that good. Clark is getting double teamed but where is everyone else? Gary has done nothing, Preston is old, Van Ness has not taken the 2nd year jump, Wyatt has been better but not consistent, Wooden and Brooks have been meh, Ford is a nobody, and Slaton is another inconsistent player. I know its only week 4 but at some point we have to see more from these guys.

Wooden has been inactive every game, which will obviously change with Wyatt injured. As for the others, they haven’t been up to par but they all have histories of playing better. I’m ever the optimist so I will assume that guys who have showed a level of ability will play up to it, and I will keep that view until they prove i’m wrong at the end of the season.

excuse me Sir! Didn't mean to piss in your Wheaties. I stand corrected. But, none of it means that Joseph is a better kicker than what we have. It's opinion, nothing else, because after all, it was the Packers who decided to take the raw talent over a guy with years of experience because they obviously decided he wasn't worth chit!

How it pans out in the end, I don't know, but I do know that since the day they moved on from Mason Crosby it has been a 3 ring circus of long snappers, and kickers. It ain't gonna get better until they quit turning it into a game of musical chairs.
