Head to head, who won the ratings battle for the TV audience on Sunday night? Did the Astros/Nationals take the honors, or was it the Packers/Chiefs game? The Nielsen ratings tell an interesting story.

18.3 million people watched the game between Packers & Chiefs compared to the 11.4 million who tuned into baseball at the same time. That’s the widest viewership margin an NFL game has ever had over a World Series game at least since Nielsen began keeping more precise records in 1987.

Not an important offering, but still interesting.

This was not a matchup networks wanted to see for the world series. Networks were hoping it was going to be the big city west coast vs east coast matchup of Dodgers vs Yankees but instead got Houston vs Washington DC. The casual fan interest is just not there for those teams.

If any network had a choice of who was playing in order it would be Dallas, Green Bay and Pittsburgh in that order. In perspective it was the most watched Sunday night game since 2015 vs guess who? GB & Denver. Also Game 4 was the lowest rated and 2nd least watched WS on record ......also add in 472,000 for streaming for SNF

Green Bay seems to come up quite often in these high ratings. I don't know if we can take this to mean that we have a great residual audience around the US, or if it's real Packer fans in so many areas, that create this level of viewers.

The Favre and White SB teams are the major factors IMO. They pulled in the casual fan and the "GB Story", small market team also resinates with many. Add that into the long stretch of winning with Rodgers and they have become a staple on national windows and many because "real" Packer fans. I remember the Lil Wayne story that he became a Packer fan when his dad bought Packer gear for the family when GB played NE in the SB in NOLA, his home town. I know people who became Packer fans because of Favre, they loved the way he played so it was natural to become a Packer fan, White was the same way

Will be interesting to see after Rodgers is done and Packers take a step back as a team how many prime time games they got. I remember it being a big deal back I think it was in 1994 they got a MNF game against KC as it was their first MNF game in several years.

All depends who the star power is

Large markets not a major difference other than Game 5 last year....
