Green Bay Packers training camp begins Thursday, which means a lot of visitors coming to Green Bay during the next month looking for things to do. They won't be disappointed.
From airplanes to ships, concerts to fireworks, and beer to birthday parties, Green Bay will be a hub of activity, especially through the coming weekend.
"If you are going to come to Green Bay, you will not have a lack of things to choose from," said Brenda Krainik, director of marketing and communication for the Greater Green Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau, perhaps understating the case.
The bureau estimates 90,000 people will attend some part of training camp. Last year, they came from 50 states and 25 countries.
Packers football, of course, is the focus. With a new coaching staff headed by Matt LaFleur, interest in the football team is intense. Practices will begin at 10:15 a.m. most days, but there are many other things to do to fill the rest of the day.

Training camp information

WHAT: Training camp includes 16 free public practices between July 25 and Aug. 19, weather permitting. Thirteen are scheduled to start at 10:15 a.m. Family Night, Aug. 2, is at 7:30 p.m. and requires tickets. Some tickets remain, but Family Night typically sells out.
Starting times for two joint practices with the Houston Texans, on Aug. 5-6, have not been announced.

WHERE: Practices will be at Ray Nitschke Field, east of the Don Hutson Center. Seating is free for the field's roughly 1,500 seats. There is standing room at each end of the field as well. Gates open 90 minutes before practice. Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. The usual carry-in rules apply.

WEATHER: Outdoor practices are subject to weather, but precipitation won't necessarily drive the team inside. Umbrellas are not allowed in the bleachers at Ray Nitschke Field, so if it looks like rain, bring a poncho.
Speaking of weather, it's hot during training camp. Be prepared. Drink a lot of water and stay hydrated. Bring sunscreen, although, if you forget, the Packers will be giving away sunscreen.

WANNA RIDE? Packers players ride children's bicycles from Lambeau Field to Nitschke Field before practices. Kids and their bikes gather about an hour before practice at the American Family Insurance DreamDrive area on the east side of Lambeau Field.
This year, the Texans will participate in the bike-riding tradition as well. Details will be announced closer to the practices.

WHAT ELSE? You can take photos at practice, but not video. Video recording devices are prohibited, including using cell phones as recording devices. Still cameras with lenses more than 12 inches long also are prohibited, as is taking photos for commercial use.
The Packers and the city of Green Bay will provide free bus service between downtown and Lambeau Field/Titletown District. The buses also will go to Bay Park Square mall and Military Avenue shopping district. Look for the Green and Gold lines.
