This subject was a FlaPack specialty. I think the idea is that with player salaries and the cap getting so juiced, void years are a way to keep up with these salaries and NFL player spending overall. TT refused to use them, arguably to the detriment of the roster. Gute overused them during Covid because of flat revenue and that's what we're working our way out of. Going forward I expect more sparing use but they don't have to be a bad thing if it allows you to add or retain talent.but it seems like every time the packers rework a contract lately, they add void years. ball used to be very good at protecting the packers from dead cap, but now it constitutes something like 25% of the total cap. i just would like to see a return to those days when we had very little dead cap.
