Packers 2024-25 Season Thread

I'm hoping for an Offensive Line that is offensive to opponents and not us.

I understand how nice it would be to have a great receiver, but if our offensive line doesn't improve dramatically, it doesn't matter because Love won't have time to throw and Jacobs won't have holes to run through.

jacobs was the 6th leading running back in the nfl this year with 1,329 yards, 5th best with 73 first downs and 4th best with 15tds. not sure a better ol would result in more. but yes, an improved performance from our ol is needed to give love more time to pass.

I'll be happy to be the bad guy.

I think Jacobs did it in spite of our offensive line. Except for games 2-3, when I ate crow because they strapped them on and seemed to clear house for the Willis Offense.

And, holy cow, they endanger Love on every snap.

And, how many 4th and shorts did we make running? We got stuffed a lot, which is why we stopped trying.

Fix the Offensive Line and our fantastic offense will finally produce. Yes, it would produce better with a receiver who catches passes more frequently, but a better offensive line would get our offense humming.

Jacobs did great work this year, but here's the damning stat for the OL: Jacobs had 592 yards before contact, and 737 yards after contact. That was the second most yards after contact behind only Derrick Henry, and second most broken tackles behind Henry, and Henry had 1,011 yards before contact and about 900 after. Saquan had 1,328 yards (!) before contact, 677 after. Saquan was FLYING before anyone even touched him, and that's the power of a great OL versus a good one.

The negative discrepancy for Jacobs between yards before and yards after contact was, at a glance, the largest in the league, and while some of it is due to situational usage - short yardage on the goal line - and his individual style, it's still a testament to his effort and balance that he was able to finish top 5 in yards.
