The Packers will travel to California to take on the San Francisco 49ers in preseason game No. 1.
- It is the first time since 2016 that the Packers and 49ers having faced each other in the preseason, with Green Bay winning that road contest, 21-10.
- It is also the first time that the Packers have opened the preseason against the 49ers.
- It will mark the first time since 2015 (at New England) that Green Bay starts the preseason as the road team.
- It will be the third time in the last seven years (San Francisco in 2016 and at Oakland in 2018) that the Packers will play a preseason game in California.
- Including the preseason, regular season and playoffs, this will be the 10th time Green Bay and San Francisco have played over the last 10 years (2013-22).
- After the 49ers game, the Packers will welcome the New Orleans Saints to town for a couple of joint practices (Aug. 16-17) before facing them at Lambeau Field on Friday, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m.
- This is the second year that the NFL schedule will consist of three preseason games played in preparation for a 17-game regular season.
