Datone Jones suspended for first game of 2015

The big question here is whether the NFL double-dips on the Packers on suspends Guion. That would leave us pretty short for Week 1 and would likely have some final roster ramifications.

i don't think it's even a question. of course they will. they have no choice but to suspend guion. the only question is "for how long?"

Not true
Packers defensive tackle Letroy Guion reached a plea deal in March that had him pay a $5,000 fine plus court costs in Florida after police found marijuana and a firearm during a February traffic stop for erratic driving.
Guion’s plea also saw the charges dropped without adjudication of guilt because he was a first-time offender , which left him free to re-sign with the Packers for one year and $2.75 million a short time later. What it didn’t leave him free of was potential discipline from the league.

So how would you suspend him for something he wasn't guilty of ?

Sounds like Jones missed his drug test FP( not the sharpest tool in the shed.

players get suspended for violations of the drug policy without ever facing criminal charges. it isn't that unusual. the court did not find him "not guilty". they did not determine guilt.

there was no question that he was caught with possession of a large quantity of a controlled substance that violates nfl policy. neither side argued that point. he also claimed that it was not his intent to distribute the stuff. so that means he is admitting it was for personal use. it seems to me that if a player admits to personal use of a controlled substance that is a direct violation of nfl policy and there is no room for waffling on whether a suspension will be forthcoming.

Neither Jones nor the soon-to-be-suspended Guion will count against the 53 once placed on reserve/suspended list at the end of camp, so that opens up a short term opportunity for some young guys.

Would it surprise anyone if we found K. Thornton's fingerprints all over these two incidents? He has the most to gain from the other's misfortune?!?! :)
