According to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal and other sources, the Wisconsin Badgers will be heading to a rather nice destination for their bowl game. UW will travel to San Diego, Cal. and take on the USC Trojans in the Holiday Bowl.

It will be a matchup of the 9-3 Badgers vs. the somehow No. 25 Trojans, who are just 8-5 on the season after a loss to Stanford in the Pac-12 Championship game over the weekend.

The Badgers had been long-rumored to be going to the Holiday Bowl, but it was only locked in after all the conference title games went the way most thought.

Wisconsin’s opponent won’t be too familiar, but the Trojans will have one given advantage as they played in the Holiday Bowl last season against Nebraska.

These two teams have met six times in their histories, with USC owning a 6-0 record over the Badgers. However, these two teams haven’t met on the gridiron since 1966.

USC: Clay Helton is making a number of changes to his coaching staff. Defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox, offensive line coach Bob Connelly, defensive backs coach Keith Heyward and defensive line coach Chris Wilson have been let go according to multiple reports. Tee Martin, Marques Tuiasasopo and Peter Sirmon will reportedly stay on

the USC coaches let go today (Justin Wilcox, Chris Wilson, Bob Connelly and Keith Heyward – see below) will not coach the Trojans in their bowl game. Clay Helton noted tonight that all other coaches are staying on, and that next season he will not call offensive plays and wants to focus on being the head coach and CEO of the team.

Big break for WI....

If you're not going to get a top tier Bowl, this is a nice way to go.

The Holiday Bowl is a quality bowl game and has has some great games over the years. The late time kinda sucks, but with a lot of people off on 12/31 lots of people will stay up late to watch the only game on TV. As a bonus you get a storied program as the opponent - a helmet school. Looks good if you win, doesn't look so bad if you lose.
