Are the A's on the move?

Yeah it was super close vote. If not for Harlen going door to door talking to people it would have never passed and GB would be at or near the bottom for league revenue. I think even the people who were saying no public money now admit this has been a positive for GB businesses as it has brought in more people and more shows giving the GB economy a boost. Oakland is just being asked to build the streets and sewers and such. If the A's are serious about building a district it would only be future money in Oakland's pocket. But Oakland was the same city that would not pass a hotel tax that would have resulted in a new Raiders stadium.

The economic impact is one of the most oversold stories in sports business. It’s for the most part a redistribution of entertainment money. There might be a slight bump but not near what is being sold

That’s not what most studies say. It’s basically a redistribution of money not additional money for business. Especially GB which is not a tourist destination. It’s 8 weekends a year and with pre season 10. Sorry but the economic impact is minimal

GB though with the atrium has hosted more events. Plus GB is small town anytime you get more fans to come up for TC and other events it adds money.

Its so minimal. The atrium is in house money. Training camp is not going to justify tax hike on a new upgrade it’s the same people

The tax was $26m per year. Do you honestly thing the GB economy grew by the same amount?

Before the referendum vote in 2000, Bob Harlan had said the renovated stadium would generate an additional $20 million annually in local revenue. Looking back, the final year of the pre-renovated Lambeau Field which was the 2002-03 season, the local revenue figure was $60.5 million, according to Richard Ryman of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. Fast-forward 10 years and we see this compares to the 2013 season figure of $136.4 million, which was before (and therefore didn’t include) the new south endzone generated revenue.

Harlan sold a bill of goods sorry. How much of that revenue was team related vs “local business”. It’s a shell game
