Jalen Johnson (Nicolet High School) has announced his intention to pass on UW and attend Duke instead.

Not really going to rip on Gard much for this one. I think everyone saw it coming. He's a one-and-done type recruit and UW has never really recruited any of those guys because of the style of play and the type of program they are. The real challenge for Gard, now that he's gotten plenty of notice, is to find a replacement or two to round out that 2020 class.

He was never going to UW but the fact they made his top 4 helps UW a lot. I think Badger fans put too much into in state recruiting anyway. UW needs to up it's game out of state getting better athletes.

UW will pretty much 99% of the time have to settle for the 3 star and under kids as none of them want to come to UW to play the style they play. You might get that one high star kid who is a in state kid who just wants to stay close to home but won't get that too often.

The style of play thing is a bit of perception vs reality. It’s not quick like Duke or Kentucky but it was one point less per game than Michigan and and 1 more than Florida....there was another stat that had UW as more points / possessions per game than Virginia.

Also recruiting is not as bad as perception under Gard. Reuvers and King were highly recruited kids as was Davis. It’s equal to or better than under Ryan
