Two Minutes:

  • Two-minute situation:
  • 1:40 left. 1st and 10 on own 35. Down 7. 0 timeouts.
    • 1’s up first. Morgan and Banks on left side.
      • Jacobs run left. Give him 5. Clock ticks.
      • Love prob would have been sacked but complete to 88 for 5.
      • First down. Clock ticks. Check down to Jacobs incomplete.
      • 0:57 left. Ball on own 46. Need 7.
      • Jacobs looked like he missed the chip and Enagbare goes right past Morgan for a sack. Morgan was likely expecting help. They called it incomplete pass on the field.
      • Brooks comes in the next play and stands Enagbare up 1x1. Love complete to Hardman deep over the middle.
      • Love to Brooks swing pass, clock ticks. Goes nowhere.
      • Love incomplete right sideline.
      • Ball on 32. 10 seconds left. No timeouts. Down 7.
      • Love buys time, fires downfield. Looked like Musgrave had a chance but it falls incomplete. Defense wins. Love may have been over the line anyway.
    • Same situation for the 2’s.
      • Willis to 88 for 7.
      • Wilson short run for 2. Clock ticks.
      • First down Checkdown to Wilson. LVN would have had a sack.
      • Willis deep downfield to Musgrave up the seam who never turns. Easily picked by Valentine. Willis def still forced one there.
    • 3’s up next in 2 minute.
      • Clifford to Shepherd for 6. Out of bounds.
      • Brinson would be sack but they say Clifford got it off.
      • 4th down Clifford to Shepherd deep down the field but shepherd can’t come down with the 1 handed catch. Maybe some PI but not called. Defense wins.
Offense:

  • Starters in team period: Love - Jacobs - Golden - Doubs - Musgrave - Kraft - Walker - Banks - Jenkins - Rhyan - Tom
    • Two O line is Morgan, Jennings, Monk, Telfort and Belton
  • Love with a beautiful throw rolling right off play action and throwing completely across the grain far left to Kraft for a nice pickup.
  • Nice little cut inside by Jacobs for a nice pickup
  • Willis right on the money to Hicks on a deep crosser for a big gain.
  • Travis Glover usually with the 2’s is not with the 2’s today. Not sure if it’s injury related or not.
  • Malik with a keeper on a read option. Melton did a good job coming up and limiting it to a short gain.
  • Elgersma over the middle to Hicks for a nice gain.
  • Musgrave on a nice deep crosser for a really nice pickup from Willis.
  • Abanikanda shows his speed and power on an inside run.
  • Kadeem Telfort just absolutely blew up Jamon Johnson on a block on an inside run.
  • Love check down to Jacobs. Simmons all over it.
  • Love with all day to throw finds Heath over the middle for about 20.
  • What an unbelievable throw by Jordan Love. Checks at the line. Just over the reach of Valentine as the underneath defender. Musgrave has a slight step on McKinney and Love somehow fit it in for a big catch along the sideline.
  • Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks both on the bikes during 11-on-11.
  • Love overthrows Heath over the middle.
  • Musgrave with a sliding catch on a slightly undertow ball from Love. Musgrave is having a fantastic day so far.
  • Jordan Morgan currently working with the 1’s at LT.
  • Love to Heath for a nice gain on a crosser.
  • Julian Hicks just got a play with the 1’s fwiw.
  • We’re not allowed to shoot rehabbing players, but Christian Watson is cutting pretty sharply and running quite fast on the sideline.
  • Morgan & Banks opening up holes for Josh Jacobs on the left side. Nice run.
  • Love with an absolute dime to Romeo Doubs deep right along the right sideline. Bullard in coverage. TD!
  • We saw another Love scramble before that play from Love too off of pressure by Clark/Gary
  • Elgersma with a bullet to Johnson on the right sideline who did a great job tapping both feet in.
Defense:

  • Starters in team period: LVN - Clark - Wyatt - Gary Simmons - McDuffie - Cooper - Hobbs - Nixon - McKinney - Williams
  • Devonte Wyatt big time run stuff up front
  • Bronson beats Jennings clean for a would be sack up front. Best play I’ve seen from him.
  • Sorrell gets into the backfield for TFL of Abandikanda in tackle period.
  • Aaron Mosby limping off the field with a trainer.
  • Elgersma holds the ball long and would have been a sack by multiple rushers.
  • Barryn Sorrell with a nice tfl for about -3 on Abanikanda
  • LVN with a pressure on a stunt up front. Forces an incompletion.
  • Brinson nice job resetting the LOS on a run. Nice day from him today.
  • Elgersma overthrow - nearly picked off by Greg Junior
  • Nice fill by Oladapo on a Wilson run. Coaches are fired up today. Couple plays back to back where coaches got on players for poor attention to detail.
  • Hey guess who. Nazir Stackhouse with a run stop inside. Amar Johnson the victim this time.
  • McDuffie stuffs Wilson right at the line. Looked like Wilson may have moved on the hard count too.
Special Teams:

  • McManus makes from 45R and 47L before missing 49R just wide right. The streak ends at 25 makes in a row.
  • McManus bounces back from first miss in camp with makes from 51L and 53R. Finished with a a successful extra point
Media:

Interviews:

  • Matt LaFleur
    • On MarShawn Lloyd (groin): "It's not going to be a long-term deal but I wouldn't anticipate him this week."
    • On those practice expectations: "It's always important o remember if you doing anything in a game, you're going to get penalized for it. So it's important to do the right things in a practice."
    • On how Nate Hobbs plays corner: "He's a strong dude. I would say he's built not only for the physicality of that position, but football in general. He's a big man out there."
    • On Sterling Sharpe making HOF: "What a great honor. Obviously, the ultimate honor as an individual. I remember watching him growing up, and just an unbelievable player whose career got caught a little short. I think that's even more impressive with what he was able to accomplish."
    • Says Savion Williams still in return to play protocol from the concussion.
    • On Isaiah Simmons: "I think he's picked up our defense. I think [Sean] Duggan and the rest of the coaches on the defensive staff have done a nice job of setting the expectations. He's going out there and executing. He's done a lot of great things."
    • On Ty'Ron Hopper: "I think he's done a really nice job. I think you can really see the growth from one year to the next."
