2023 Badger Football Thread

Devon Spalding, who worked under Luke Fickell at Cincinnati in 2019 and has climbed quickly through the coaching ranks, is headed to Wisconsin to reunite with Fickell.

A former versatile offensive player at Central Michigan who had an All-State playing career at Michigan's John Glenn High School, Spalding served as an offensive graduate assistant under Fickell on Cincinnati's 2019 squad that roared to an 11-win and set the stage for the program's most successful multi-year stretch in school history.

Spalding then joined the Penguins' staff of Doug Phillips in 2020, and in that time he helped tutor Jaleel McLaughlin -- a Walter Payton Football Award finalist

Not much of a surprise on Engram with his father not being renewed. Not sure he would have been real high on the WR depth chart, though he was a decent punt returner. Would not have minded seeing him go back to playing CB.

To go with the hiring of a new RB coach I heard on a podcast that they are moving safety Cade Yacamelli to RB. Don't really know what this means other than adding some depth. Cade did play RB in high school, and his highlight video shows a guy with some speed. Not a ton of suddenness and runs a little upright, but maybe a nice depth piece down the road.

That corny enthusiasm is working. Make a kid feel special and like Bucky is very happy he's here rather than apparently the old way of you're lucky to be here.

I am so excited about Bucky Football
