A year ago, I said that Rodgers should have never been activated after his shoulder injury. I've always indicated that playing with the injury could have an adverse effect on his future play. I've watched it play out all of this year, and today it was so obvious that almost anyone could see it. His deep throws are horrible. He has no touch. His motion and even his plant have changed minutely, but it's enough to stop Rodgers from being Rodgers.

I have this horrible feeling that the Rodgers we saw today is the Rodgers we'll be seeing as long as he's in Green Bay. It's a damned shame because you don't flush a man's career down the toilet over one lousy possible win when it doesn't mean a damned thing.

Just a reminder of part of our discussions on this in the past. There are more. Look them up. This one deals with his being in concussion protocol. Rodgers injuries

i think you are probably correct that he is currently damaged. the real question is whether it is beyond repair. let's also keep in mind how little he practiced in the offseason and even during this season. he probably needs a full off-season of rehab and regaining the muscle memory to get back to his old self. at least that's my hope. i'll admit i'm a big fan, and i would really hate to see his career end badly. unlike most people on this forum, i like his personality. i enjoy his dry sense of humor. i'm not put off by his self-confidence. i really hope we get to see something much closer to the 2016 rodgers again.

I'm pragmatic about these things because I've seen it too often. Even when I think about Ted Thompson, I think about the potential results of too many concussions. Lord knows, when he played, nobody seemed to care. Shake it off, and get back out there. I don't doubt for a minute it contributed to Ted's mental condition today.

I hate seeing Rodgers in this hellish position. He's still the best we've got, and I hope like hell they haven't broken him, or at least they can use Gorilla glue to put him back together again!

Rodgers is not damaged goods. There was nothing wrong with bringing him back last year. If it wasn't safe to bring him back, they wouldn't have. They are quite conservative with injuries. His problems this here have more to do with so many injuries and not playing with everybody enough to gel and get any sort of consistency going. That along with a crappy coaching staff had more to do with our problems this year than anything else by a long shot. He will have the offseason to rest and will be 100% for next season. A new coach and staff that can bring some energy to this team will be a breath of fresh air and will make a difference to.

Damaged goods is an overreaction IMO. But 13 screws and a couple pieces of metal isn't nothing. I can't fathom it hasn't changed some things in that shoulder. He seems to be playing as if nothing happened, maybe he needs to get in tune with the shoulder he has and not the shoulder he used to have. If I'm the next HC, it's an avenue I'm pushing with him.

Damaged goods no, but a QB who's skills are in the decline yes. Now has the injury impacted that process probably. His accuracy is not what it was and obviously he skipped some throws and the long ball to MVS was way off but he had zip on the ball with a couple of dig routes to Adams and one to Cobb. His mobility is not what it was even prior to the knee and some of his reads/decisions are also questionable, is that just the brain and eyes not seeing things as in the past? Age does that, split second decisions. He's not a young player anymore, he's 35. Even Brady is not the same Brady as he was 2-3 years ago. I know that the news staff and FO needs to evaluate each guy and see if they fit long term and short term and if I am in the FO I need to think seriously if Rodgers fit into those plans even now. If you don't think you can compete in the next 2 year (I have my doubts) you are stuck with the 37-38 year old QB. He have value now, maybe its time to cash in before its too late

I don't believe Rodgers skills have deteriorated anywhere near where some people would like to believe. Over the years I've coached guys who went through similar types on injuries, and know exactly what the toll can be on them, if they end up playing and changing their dynamics. You may not see the changes but rest assured they're there.

I look at Jordy Nelson. He was washed up, to some people. He was injured. It effected his game the last half of last year. I said he'd bounce back. Guess what? Despite an injury this year, that pretty much cost him 4 games, his stats would be 2nd highest on the Packers for both receptions and yards. Not bad for a washed up receiver, is it?

But to the point. Rodgers is damaged goods. I stated it would happen, after watching him come back, and it came to pass. But, what the hell would I know?

And, by the way. I believe Rodgers is the type of QB who could win an MVP at the age of 40.

I posted this in the other blog as well. I believe it is a combination of a lot of things.

1) Two Collar Bone Injuries- No doubt this would affect anyone's throwing motion.
2) Knee Injury- Not practicing for over half the year can definitely play a part in accuracy and timing.
3) Young WR's- Not where they are expected to be on routes. A slightly different angle taken by a WR on a route can affect a ton of things. Not coming back to the QB on scrambles, etc.
4) Offensive Line- It's bad. When you have a bad line it gets into a QB's mind. It is in AR's mind right now.
5) Age- As players get older, their skills deteriorate. Some faster than others. I am not saying AR is losing it completely but you can see he has lost a little zip on his passes.
6) Motivation- Does AR have the motivation anymore. He is getting older. Does he study film as much as he did when he was younger? I think this could be a major reason he is off and not throwing to open WR's on time. Just my opinion.

A new coach and philosophy may do wonders for AR as well as healing up over the offseason. Hopefully, a lot of this season was more because of 1-4, not 4 & 5. If it is 4 & 5, then we have bigger problems. Especially, the motivation. If that is the case then AR seriously needs to consider if he wants to play football anymore. At that point, it is time to move on for AR and the Packers.

in any sport you see guys skills decline with age, yeah you can still make a play now and then but not as often as you once could. One analogy is baseball, look at Kershaw. He was dominate but now losing a few MPH on is fastball he can pitch a gem one night and not reach the 7th the next 3 starts, he still can roll the slider but not every night, saw that in the playoffs. Yesterday Rodgers..... he throws a 15 yard dart to Adams then skips a pass and overthrows a wide open MVS. His arm strength is not what it was, injury and age are a mean combination.

Personally I don't see Rodgers playing till 40 and I would also be surprised if he finished his career in GB. Not sure if football is that important to him as much as before

and as to Nelson...in the 1st 10 weeks this year he averaged 2.5 receptions per game and 35.3 yards per game, his numbers ticked up the last few weeks when Cooper got traded and he became the "#1" WR in Oakland....

Arod isnt beyond repair but GB front office has to make some decisions. Don't they continue to draft/sign questionable "bargain" talent and hope Arod bounces back to his old Superman days, or do you go the route of Patriots and Steelers, admit your QB isn't what he was and try to find pieces to help him and game plan accordingly.
