yep. and he was traded to the jags for a 7th round pick that was used to draft the amazing anthony johnson jr. who actually played in a few games, filling in for the injured rudy ford. he was cut in the final cutdown of 2024, and disappeared into obscurity. but to be fair, cole is not a full-time starter for the jags, although he has started 12 of the 49 games he has played in for them. still a lot better than what the packers got in trade.

Then Tua was asked if he would like a fresh start for next year

"That would be dope," he said. "I would be good with it."

Why Matt L returns...really this simple, you can't replace that with anything in the pool:

  • In his first seven seasons leading the Packers, has authored one of the greatest starts to a head-coaching career in NFL history. Per the Elias Sports Bureau, his 76 regular-season wins are tied for the second most in league history by a head coach in his first seven seasons in the NFL, trailing only George Seifert (86 in 1989-95). Green Bay's 76-40-1 regular-season record since 2019 is No. 3 in the NFL and ranks No. 1 in the NFC.
  • Became the first coach in NFL history to post 13-plus wins in three straight seasons and his 39 wins from 2019-21 passed Seifert (38) for the most wins by an NFL head coach in his first three seasons in the league (Elias). His 39 wins are also tied for the second most by a coach over any three-season span in league history, trailing only Andy Reid's 40 wins with the Kansas City Chiefs from 2020-22 and Mike Ditka's 40 wins with the Chicago Bears from 1985-87 (Elias).

This is also simple: does anyone actually think he's holding a good roster back? Of course not. Since 2019 Gute has been pretty aggressive in UFA when there's been money to spend. Most of the time it worked, other times it hasn't. If the GM is going to team build that way then there are obvious bottlenecks to how the roster shakes out because those cap hits come due and you just have to eat a turd some years. No reasonable GM or team Pres puts that on the coach. If anything ML has kept them consistently winning through those tight years.
